Being a teacher means instilling a lifelong love of learning in students and providing them with the tools and support they need, and it also means advocating for students, public education, and our profession. The NEAs recent Black Student Leader Day was all about exposing aspiring educators to lobbying as well as grassroots organizing for racial and social justice.
This kind of outreach to aspiring African American teachers is essential at a time when the number of black teachers is declining.

Didn't really think about my teachers that way, guess lily does.
Well, here's an old song I like;)
Lily only thinks about 2 things:
1. Getting more member dues
2. Race
Perhaps if it were, ‘teachers of competence’.
These invitees tell us a lot about what their organization is about.
No they aren’t.
The incredible thing is that a master’s degree is usually required for teaching certificate. Why it should take such a high degree makes no sense in the first place, but for them to be, in large part, so uneducated belies the notion they learned a thing.
How about a teacher? Not a white teacher. Not a black teacher. Not an asian teacher.
How about a teacher?
These idiots are so obsessed with focusing on the things that divide people. I swear, they are all deranged.
Racist and greedy outfit. Needs to be dethroned if public education is ever to recover
It’s not their race that’s fundamental, it’s what they teach.
Division is what communist loving liberals use against us. We are strong together but weak as fractured groups.
So this is the NEA’s position? Being a social justice warrior, a change agent and all that meaningless crap is more important than reading, writing and math skills, as well as,at least some basic OBJECTIVE understanding of history? We are royally EFFED!
No. No they are not.
GOOD TEACHERS, REGARDLESS OF COLOR, are fundamental to our nation’s success.
People think that the thin blue line is secretive, you should get a teacher talking about the stuff that goes on in inner city schools, especially if you are not of the predominate demographic.
Is it about race or the “content of their character?” I remember someone saying that.
Of what color?
Everyone is a color unless they are clear.
Teachers of color lives matter!!!
Character means nothing to the left anymore, only race matters.
they have completely turned MLKjrs dream around backwards.
Most kids already know the colors by the time they start school. I don;t see why there should be specialists in the subject unless it is just more featherbedding by the NEA.
I’m not so sure. I couldn’t tell you the difference between mauve and fuchsia until well into my adult years. I still have trouble with it.
What a pile. You know what she means by “color”.
How come asians haven’t had any problems succeeding with the “non-colored” teachers they’ve had?
