Margaret Wente, one of the country’s best columnists, has written an interesting piece on the changing roles of men and women. It’s all about the fact that women are increasingly more successful — better educated, more ambitious, more focused – than men. “Women are flourishing in this new world, but many men aren’t. Men have always defined themselves as providers — it’s the main source of their identity. What happens when they aren’t needed as providers any more? What happens when their sense of purpose is lost? The answer is, they become unmoored. They stop being adults” She quotes from a book on the subject, The Richer Sex, by Liza Mundy: “I’m kind of losing hope in men,” one high-achieving woman told Ms. Mundy. “My husband and his friends, they just love being bachelors – they love to hang around and smoke pot.” Other women make similar comments. I’ve been thinking about the same subject off and on for some time. At first I was worried. There’s little question that women are making great leaps and bounds while men, especially younger ones, seem increasingly to coast through life.

And it’s what they’re supposed to do. “1 Timothy 5:8 - But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (And the “he” is the male, not “mankind”, “he”.)
Women’s lib, feminism, whatever, was a huge factor in corrupting the family unit. And the men bought in to it, too, worshipping the extra paycheck. Between women’s lib and removing prayer from schools, our society took a big hit.

The women who don’t need guys are welcome to have a house full of cats. And there is no reason any worthwhile guy would WANT a woman who doesn’t need a guy.
Hint: There are women who do. Find one. Keep her. To hell with the rest!
Total bullshit. 70-80% of coders in Silicon Valley are MEN. Men create everything of innovation and value in this world, not women. These high paid jobs of women are quota positions in the corporate world, or overpaid education and administrative posititions in bureaucracies. Women DOMINATE in govt “jobs” and the school system, where their actual performance doesn’t mean a damn thing.

...Sometime later, I was a young divorcee with a small child. At the urging of my sister, I relocated to NYC after spending years married to an American executive stationed in Southeast Asia. The marriage over, I was making a new life for my daughter and me. Katie said, “Come to New York. We’re making revolution! Some of us are starting the National Organization of Women and you can be part of it.”
I hadn’t seen her for years. Although she had tormented me when we were youngsters, those memories were faint after my Asian traumas and the break-up of my marriage. I foolishly mistook her for sanctuary in a storm. With so much time and distance between us, I had forgotten her emotional instability.
And so began my period as an unwitting witness to history. I stayed with Kate and her lovable Japanese husband, Fumio, in a dilapidated loft on The Bowery as she finished her first book, a PhD thesis for Columbia University, “Sexual Politics.”
It was 1969. Kate invited me to join her for a gathering at the home of her friend, Lila Karp. They called the assemblage a “consciousness-raising-group,” a typical communist exercise, something practiced in Maoist China. We gathered at a large table as the chairperson opened the meeting with a back-and-forth recitation, like a Litany, a type of prayer done in Catholic Church. But now it was Marxism, the Church of the Left, mimicking religious practice:
“Why are we here today?” she asked.
“To make revolution,” they answered.
“What kind of revolution?” she replied.
“The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.
“By destroying the American family!” they answered.
“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.
“By destroying the American Patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.
“And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
“By taking away his power!”
“How do we do that?”
“By destroying monogamy!” they shouted.
“How can we destroy monogamy?”
Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears. Was I on planet earth? Who were these people?
“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!” they resounded.
They proceeded with a long discussion on how to advance these goals by establishing The National Organization of Women. It was clear they desired nothing less than the utter deconstruction of Western society. The upshot was that the only way to do this was “to invade every American institution. Every one must be permeated with ‘The Revolution’”: The media, the educational system, universities, high schools, K-12, school boards, etc.; then, the judiciary, the legislatures, the executive branches and even the library system.
It fell on my ears as a ludicrous scheme, as if they were a band of highly imaginative children planning a Brinks robbery; a lark trumped up on a snowy night amongst a group of spoiled brats over booze and hashish...
I didn’t finish the article because it’s a bit long winded (I’ve give the author an “A” for being even-handed) but I’ll tell you why men strove to provide. It was to impress women.
Now men know that it is now harder to impress them financially or professionally, in other words, achievement-wise. Men are less trustful of women now because they feel that they won’t measure up, and won’t be respected. Respect is very important to a man and the feminist revolution made that harder to attain. And at times it cast men as the enemy, almost as animals.
Am I saying women should go back into the kitchen? No, but women need to be less paranoid of men, less oppressive in language and deed. There are good, supportive women out there but face it, being a man is institutionally undesirable, particularly if you’re young.
Women buy more mechanical toys for masturbation then men do.
Women don’t need men until they need a flat tire changed.
And ladies...there aint that many of us around anymore.
Even you don’t want to work for other women.
I’ve heard this one a lot. Seems that many career women, really would prefer to have a male boss, and male colleagues.
I’ve heard enough stories about career women being in an all woman office, and/or have a woman for a boss. I’ve heard some women I’ve known openly say they prefer a man for a boss.
As for working, I'm an engineer. I enjoy doing engineering work. And of course it paid well until I retired.

Yep. I am the official insect and arachnid killer in my marriage. My wife doesn't mind helping me gut and process my deer and other game but if a spider walks in you would think the moon was crashing into the earth. Don't even mention what happens if a centipede or silverfish shows up.
I would still need a wife to clean that.
Our corrupt government has forced businesses to hire women at greater rates and with the feminist indoctrination the women want that. Since women are mostly programmed to want a man to be their main provider it then becomes more difficult to find a man that makes a higher income.
Couple that with the government directed universities enrolling women in greater percentages than men and handing out worthless degrees to them those women actually think they are smarter and better than the man who goes into the plumbing business and ends up making a really good paycheck.
Politicians were devious enough to change society to sow the destruction of the nuclear family and in the end become the provider of money and safety for women and their bastard children. Women are now basically beholden to politicians for their needs, even if they have been given a good job, because they still need safety and security and they now have no husbands to fill that need.
I’ve learned to live with bugs and vermin, but I can’t abide snakes. I don’t want to hurt them, but I don’t want to see them, either. I’m mad at my husband for dying and leaving me to fend for myself with snakes. He was a manly man that didn’t want to work. I worked and earned like a man from the genesis of women’s lib. He spent more time with the kids than I did. He was devastated when I retired ten years early due to a medical condition. He was robbed. He should have had another ten peaceful years in a bar, not having to put up with my nonsense. Do I miss him? Yes. Would I replace him? Never. I managed to get through Irma by myself. I’ll just listen to some Gloria Gaynor and do the best I can. I’m disgusted by the women who have followed. I worked so hard to kick down doors that were closed to women. If I knew then what I know now I would have become a school crossing guard.
I spend my time with German Shepherds.
