(Vanity)
The NFL players are supposedly protesting police violence against African American males. The facts are that a large majority of victims of excessive police force are not African Americans, and that a tiny minority (even including armed, suspiciously behaving suspects) of African American males are harmed by police.
If Hillary Clinton had won the presidency, both the true statistics of police violence against black males AND the keynote incidents of the past years made famous in media WOULD REMAIN UNCHANGED.
WOULD THESE FOOTBALL PLAYERS STILL BE TAKING THE KNEE?
Mongo only pawn in game of life.
When they address AND fix black on black killings in Chiraq I’ll listen. Until then.
In fact, I suspect Obama himself was indirectly one of the big reasons why these malcontents began their public protests. Black Americans got through most of Obama's two terms in office and then realized that nothing had gotten any better for them by any objective measure.
President Obama never showed any animosity to black protests against police. Butnwas there much kneeling by the players before the election season?
Mongo lose big money as tackle if he play white socialist game.
Some idiotEJ Dionne, I thinksaid, We on the left are the real patriots because we like America now, not as it was! Well, theyre back to hating America because of who won the election. Mercurial patriotism is not patriotism at all.
You can’t only like your mom when she makes spaghetti.
You can’t only like your country when your guy wins the election.
We aren’t one trick ponies. Running a free republic is working with lots of different opinions and trying to keep everyone as free as possible. Perfection is never going to happen. But this false “problem,” that every black man is at risk of becoming a victim of police violence, is no reason to sabotage the patriotism of the entire land.
Yaelle, they don’t like it even then. Your namesake, the lady with the tent pin (Judges 4) knew a thing or two about loyalty. These people don’t. To the extent that they’re thinking about anything other than being with the cool people and getting attention, the people taking a knee are focused only on hating the West. Wait til they find out how eager the rest of the world is to learn what these people think and feel. But if that sad day ever comes, it’ll be too late for them and us.
When you say African American, you mean black, right?
African American, black, yes.
Yes, which is why I call the average non conservative Americans The Gullibles. They just don't make the effort necessary to find out their friends and their media sources have little connection to truth or justice or being correct. But they are desperate to be liked and seen as correct and altruistic. Which makes them perfect tools of the CNTRL LEFT.
The backlash against this knee controversy gives me some hope that we won't end in a scenario like yours. Well, some, anyway.
Just my humble opinion, but I recommend against bowing down to them by using that ridiculous, magisterial-sounding, regal title.
They are black.
Period.
I don’t mind how people choose to call themselves. It’s fine with me either way.
Yes, they can certainly call themselves whatever they want, but when they insist you bow down to them with that silly title, that is a bad thing.
You think that if we ever insisted on “European American” that they’d go along?
I would like to insist on it. Every other stupid designation (they call race) is a geographical origin except for “white.” It would be fair to call us European Americans.
Probably. They were doing it last year when Obama was in office.
Another thing to remember is that last week only five or six players were taking a knee. This week it was upwards of 200. If Trump hadn't mentioned it on Friday none of us would be talking about it today.
