25-Year-Old Man Arrested in Connection With Deadly Tennessee Church Shooting Was Former Congregant

Emanuel Kidega Samson, 25, of La Vergne, Tennessee, was charged with felony homicide and was being held without bond. Other charges are coming later, police said. His next court appearance is Wednesday.

The Justice Department and FBI have opened a federal civil rights investigation into the shooting, and police said they were still trying to establish the suspect’s motive.

Local police also requested the assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to run an “urgent trace” on a firearm, an ATF representative told CNN.

The trace would give authorities an indication of where the gun was purchased, who purchased it and whether it was purchased legally, the ATF representative said.

Church members told police that Samson attended the church one to two years ago, Metropolitan Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron. But they had not seen him in a while and did not immediately recognize him because the gunman was masked.

Police initially said the suspect was African-American but later identified him as Sudanese with legal US residency.

"...Police initially said the suspect was African-American but later identified him as Sudanese with legal US residency..."

How is this the least bit relevant? So he is African-African. That sheds so much light on this event.

What the hell difference does it make where he got the weapon?

It's what he did with it that damns him.

Exactly firearm tracing is only to criminalize the firearm not the person using it.

For me, “civil rights” is a dirty pair of words. Its meaning is so broad as to have no meaning, except it allwws the empire to stick it’s nose in states’ business.

This should not be a federal case.

and I believe Somalia is on President Trump’s list of travel restricted nations. The death of this single mother is on the hands of liberals everywhere who have opposed this policy. Congrats, libs.

I'll give you 2-1 odds that he attended church for the express purpose of shaking them down for "help". Possibly, they even donated food, money and/or clothing out of the goodness of their hearts. Charitable Christians tend to do stuff like that.

Then he kept coming back and, eventually, they maybe asked him do something he considered demeaning in return like mowing the lawn of a widow in the congregation. So he took his scam elsewhere until he ran out of enablers.

So, in his mind, he was justified because the infidels ceased to pay him the Jiyza tax he was rightfully due.

I guess they want to determine if he purchased it legally or through the black market. It will also depend on his immigration status whether he was legally able to purchase the firearms. Presumably he is a legal resident and therefore is legally allowed to purchase a firearm. In the end, it is pretty meaningless.

“...For me, “civil rights” is a dirty pair of words...”

Ditto. The words together describe something granted by civil authority, making the words an oxymoron.

A right is neither granted or removed, it simply exists naturally. If there is anything civil about it, then it is no longer a right, but a privilege or requirement...

Yeah, he probably got imported by the Church, listened to what they were saying, and began to worry that the money was not going to keep coming. You just never know when one of these clowns is going to go off and hence why they should be banned from entry.
