Legio I Italica was formed by the Roman Emperor Nero. This Legion would be stationed along the south side of the Danube River in the province of Moesia Inferior from 88 AD until the early 5th century.
When some cuck tries to use BCE or CE with me, I simply state back “Before Christian Era and Christian Era”.
Have you read Colleen Mccullough’s Masters of Rome series? Terrific historical fiction.
(excerpt):
Legio I Italica is a group of top quality, professional Roman Legionary reenactors, who travel around Italy by invitation, making camp in various towns and cities in order to educate Italians, young and old, about the real life of the legions and the ancient world.
I know of it. Haven’t read it. May check out the first one. Thanx.
Thanks, would have liked to reenact Roman legionnaire. Had to settle for being a Yankee infantry officer.
Thanks Bull Snipe.
Thanks for that link.
That is really cool.
(Nothing I’d want to actually do
mind you, but I’d love to see it.)
I preferred the sequel series - “Less Esha.”)
The Danube was blue before there were bi-peds running around to document the fact.
Is this where the line broke and the Germanic barbarians poured into the Roman Empire?
One of the places they crossed into the Empire. The Visigoths moved through Lower Moesia and continued further South where they defeated the Eastern Roman Emperor at the battle of Adrianople in 378 AD. Other Barbarians, such as the Huns, Ostrogoths, and Vandals, entered the Empire further to the North.
