Happy downloading!

Apple releases watchOS 4

“Apple today released watchOS 4, the newest version of the operating system designed to run on the Apple Watch,” Juli Clover reports for MacRumors. “watchOS 4 is a significant update that brings a whole host of new features from new watch faces to tools that will better motivate you to get moving.”

“watchOS 4 can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General –> Software Update,” Clover reports. “To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the iPhone.”

“There are several interface improvements, including a new vertical dock, a Quickstart interface when starting a workout, a better interface and more options in Apple Music, access to Apple News, new gestures in Mail, new complications for unread messages and Now Playing songs, and more,” Clover reports. “A new Flashlight option is available in Control Center for running or walking at night, person-to-person Apple Pay is coming to the Messages app starting this fall, and third-party apps are faster than ever with better load times and a more responsive interface, plus developers have access to even more features like the heart rate monitor, accelerometer, and gyroscope.”

Apple releases tvOS 11

“There’s a new software update out for the fourth-gen Apple TV that brings a few useful new features to the set-top box. tvOS 11 brings automatic dark mode switching, Home Screen Sync, proper AirPods support, and more to the Apple TV,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac.

“When you set up or update an Apple TV with tvOS 11, Home Screen Sync is a new option that can be enabled after connecting your iCloud account,” Hall reports. “With Home Screen Sync enabled, you can rearrange your apps from any Apple TV running tvOS 11 and see the changes reflected on all other Apple TVs with the same iCloud account. Home Screen Sync also automatically installs apps across Apple TVs with the feature enabled.”

“AirPods now appear as a new speaker option automatically on Apple TVs with iCloud accounts connected to iPhones with AirPods paired. This means you can play music or easily listen to video from Apple TV through AirPods without using the TV speakers,” Hall reports. “The tvOS 11 software update adds new features to the fourth-generation Apple TV for free, but the big story this year is the new Apple TV 4K. tvOS 11 for Apple TV 4K has been enhanced for 4K TVs with support for high dynamic range color.”

MacDailyNews Take: We love Home Screen Sync. All of our Apple TV 4 units now look and operate exactly the same, but we can’t wait for our Apple TV 4K units to arrive!

My iPhone 6+ is the perfect weight. I hope they don’t make it lighter. When a phone is too light, it gets harder to keep it safe.

The iPhone 8 Plus is slightly heavier. . . about 10 grams due to the dual glass. !92 grams for your 6 plus to 202 grams for the 8 Plus.

If you can select the choices.. then Great. My only choice for headline news (on my opening screen) is NYSlimes’s and Washington Compost.. They go out of their way word Every headline to bash President Trump.. It’s Infuriating and absurd.
