• Federal probe into House technology worker Imran Awan yields intrigue, no evidence of espionage

  

  Imran Awan, a technology worker in Congress for 13 years, is the subject of a federal investigation that has become a lightning rod for some conservatives. (Bonnie Jo Mount/The Washington Post)

  In late September 2016, leaders in the House of Representatives met behind closed doors for briefings on a closely held investigation into a group of computer technicians working on Capitol Hill.

  Investigators with the Inspector General’s Office had been quietly tracking the five IT workers’ digital footprints for months. They were alarmed by what they saw. The employees appeared to be accessing congressional servers without authorization, an indication that they “could be reading and/or removing information,” according to documents distributed at the previously unreported private briefings.

  For some who listened to the findings, the fact that the employees were born in Pakistan set off alarms about national security, according to two participants who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Others thought it more likely that the IT workers, naturalized U.S. citizens, were bending rules on network access to share job duties — violations of House protocol, perhaps, but not espionage.

Xavier Becerra and Sean McCluskie need to 'fess up. They are onetime chair and co-chair of the errant Democrat Congressional Caucus......and are currently the top two California L/E officers. Xavier Becerra and Sean McCluskie would be subject to serious charges in a good world...

The conduct of then-Congressman Xavier Becerra, Democratic Caucus chair, is heinous in the extreme.

I personally feel that the sordid details of treachery and malfeasance will not inflame the citizenry as much as the discovery that our tax dollars were being used to finance these treacherous atrocities.

The money angle was further spotlighted when President Trump recently withheld 225 million dollars in foreign aid to Pakistan until that country rounds up its resident terrorist groups. NOTE: About half the members of Congress have signed on to a move to withhold foreign aid to Pakistan due to the terrorists lurking there.

Being scrutinized is a falsified invoicing scheme. The equipment Democrat Yvette Clark ordered (then wrote-off) got shipped ..... not to the Congressional office...... but to Imran’s private residence.

Taxpayers should be aware that Democrat Yvette Clark (or high-level staffer with financial responsibility in her office) would have to sign a voucher for each such purchase.

Taxpayers may undoubtedly wonder how Democrat Yvette Clark wouldn’t have noticed (A) that tech equipment was being purchased, (B) in large quantities Democrat Clarke might not plausibly need, (C) but never actually materialized at Cong Clarke's office.

NOTO BENE: The $120,000 tech equipment covers only Cong Yvette Clarke’s. The Democrats that employed the Paki IT clan have yet to be audited for similar patters. The tax dollars stolen could skyrocket.
