The first recorded use of a “zero placeholder” is in Egypt circa 1770BC. And that was in a base ten system of counting.

They used it in their accounting books.

So...these guys surely realize there was math before the 3rd or 4th century, right?

There was math but try doing long division using Roman or Babylonian numerals. The place-decimal system with it's place holder "0" was a really good idea.

“A carbon–carbon bond is a covalent bond between two carbon atoms.[1]

The most common form is the single bond: a bond composed of two electrons, one from each of the two atoms.

The carbon–carbon single bond is a sigma bond and is formed between one hybridized orbital from each of the carbon atoms.”

Math is easy...just follow a SIMPLE set of rules..

But original concepts in math are HARD...the concept of zero required a true genius to discover it.

Seems simple now... but original ideas almost always look simple after someone else describes them.

You guys are promoting same-element dating on this website?

You know you’re glissading on an attenuated layer of H2O in its solid state don’t you? ;^)

Lol!

But unlike some 'other' type of same-same bonding we know about, we wouldn't be here without C-C bonding.

To be honest, I may have done some bonding to C.C. back in the day. ;-)

And the Egyptians had the zero in use 2,000 years during the Middle Kingdom way before the Hindu manuscript - at the very least, and perhaps as far back as 3500 BC.

Jethro Bodeen revolutionized the naming of the word zero:

“Not plus not equals not”.

He later became a double not spy.

It was thought & taught for years, that “zero” for the Eastern world was discovered by the Arabic people.

Check out this link. http://veda.wikidot.com/sanskrit-numbers

The Infians had identified numbers up to 10^53. They were also the first to contemplate what happens if you start dividing 1 by larger numbers. They also came up with pi independent of the Greeks and Babylonians. There was a great BBC show on the origins of mathematics.
