First, this demonstrates that certain life forms like bacteria could survive on a journey through space.
Second, it demonstrates that ‘evolution’ can occur rather rapidly. The ISS crew must exercise or they will turn into basketballs with silly putty for bones.
All life forms are a product of their environment. As the environment changes, so do the life forms.
