The reason why classic cars are so appealing is the lower belt line. The high belt line of modern cars make them less appealing, at least to me. Picture the Mustang below with a 3 inch lower belt line. It would be even more spectacular.

The "beltl ine" in auto jargon is the line that extends form the trunk to the hood just below where the glass starts.

I agree with that 100%, although I love the retro Mustangs, at least up until the last couple of years. In any case, I can't think of a better example of what you're saying about the "high belt line", etc, than with the new/retro Dodge Challengers. To me they just look too fat and stocky. The original was more lean and low.
