Holy Cow. The Braves just beat the Cubs 5 to 1 (very poor vanity)

Posted on 09/03/2017 2:14:45 PM PDT by RoosterRedux

I am a Braves fan and can't believe that the Braves beat the Cubs (well, in one game only) 5 to 1.

The Cubs are tough and have incredible pitching, a great batting line up, and a solid defense.

About dam time.

Go Braves!

Everybody thinks the Dodgers are going to win the WS.

I think the Cubs are still the team to beat.

I thought the Cubs were brilliant in this series. Can’t believe the Braves actually won one.

I won’t say the Cubs will repeat as WS champs for fear of causing the jinx.

Dodgers vs Cleveland in the fall classic.

Dodgers win in 5.

I am a Braves fan, too, and used to watch all of their games online once TBS stopped carrying them. They have been so bad the last couple of years that I don't do it anymore! I still can't believe that management deliberately destroyed the team a few years ago!

The Cubs are not the team they were last year.

They are awfully good this year.

Not especially. The Dodgers and Nationals are better. The Cubs are still a good team, but not as good as last year, by quite some. World Series hangover, most likely.

Same here. Its been tough to be a Braves fan. Notwithstanding all of the trades these past few years, I still try to give management the benefit of the doubt. Still, I can name on sight more ‘Gnats, Cubbies, and Indians players than I can Braves.

The front office tore it down to rebuild the franchise.

Now, the team has the number one farm system in baseball with a 19 y/o potential generational talent in AAA.

You witnessed a glimpse of the future today. Fried pitched amazing. Swanson, Albies, and Ruiz all contributed with the bat and glove today.

AJ Minter has electric stuff out of the bullpen and with eventually be the future closer.

Last but not least the team still has the face of the franchise in Freddie and a top center fielder in Inciarte.

If you want to see what the Braves will look like in a season or two just take a gander at the Astros.

I was a Braves fan....in 57 & 58.

What little kid wouldn’t like a team who had a player with the nickname Hurricane ?

Became a Cub fan in 59.
Died with them every year with all 1732 players who never brought a WS to the north side since 1908.

Then I was brought back to life last year.

2nd half, they are in the same class as those others. I’d still give the Dodgers the edge in a 7 game series. The Cubs post-season experience might give them a bump in either the series against the Nats or Dodgers. Assuming Lester and Arrieta are on their game, they can beat anyone in a playoff series. They definitely are not having a season like 2016, but it’s pretty much the same team with the young guys having an extra year under their belt.

Regardless, the AL and NL and poised to have an incredible post-season this year. There are probably 7 or more teams that legitimately could win.

I see a Yankees-Dodgers WS, the Dodgers winning in 7

If Yanks don’t make the playoffs, Astros could be a No. 2 favorite in the AL.

MLB seems to be in good hands with as much young talent as I’ve seen at one time.

Started before that. This team traded Adam Wainwright to St. Louis for Burger King and JD Drew 15 years ago. Then they traded ace pitcher Kevin Millwood for Johnny Estrada. Then they appointed the idiot who did it to be team president. I call them the “Jokes” or the “Jesters” not the Braves.

Now they are eliminating walk up traffic to their new stadium. They are an amazing trainwreck. I quit watching them years ago. Can’t stand the stink.

Well, you are going back to the days of the Milwaukee Braves.

Eddie Mathews......Johnny Logan.....a young Hank Aaron.....Warren Spahn......Lew Burdette. Takes us back down memory lane. To the days of Happy Days, before it jumped the shark................
