"It wasnt perfect, but it was a big win over a good team"
If 24 hours ago, I had told you that Alabama would defeat third-ranked Florida State 24-7, how would you feel? Happy? Thrilled? Relieved? Or maybe somewhere within? Then why dont you feel that way now? Maybe Nick Saban has spoiled us, the Tide fans. Well, it is time to heed the advice that Saban shared with AJ McCarron a few years ago.
Paraphrasing: Calm Down.
Despite the big win over a potential playoff team, some Alabama fans are still wringing their hands and complaining about this and that.
The nature of college football is that players turnover really fast. If you are lucky, youll get four seasons out of a guy. In some instances, its only two. Yet somehow, Saban has been able to keep his team near or at the top of the college football world for a decade. Texas is ringing up losing seasons on a regular basis. Notre Dame just finished a 4-8 campaign. Mizzou went from back-to-back SEC East titles to dumpster fire in a heartbeat. Meanwhile, Alabama went undefeated only to lose to the greatest Clemson team of all time with the greatest Tiger of all time at quarterback on the last play of the game. If that had happened to any other team, they probably would have thrown a parade - and I am not being sarcastic.
DEFENSE
Alabama lost seven defenders to the NFL Draft but still continues to dominate the line of scrimmage, yielding only 40 yards on the ground. More numbers for you from Saturday night: 3 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, 6 passes defended, two interceptions, and SEVEN points given up.

I’m a Tennessee fan and, unlike most, consider Alabama our traditional rival. You give credit where it is due. Bama is on a run which, even the Bear would be amazed to see. That,in itself says a lot.
It took a while, but I finally got the joke, I think.
FSU still can’t protect their QB like last year, and the post Dalvin Cook era looks a little thin at running back. Looks like Clemson will be at the top of the ACC again this season, as the Seminoles don’t look like a top 3 team.
How did that work out for ya the last time the Tide played ND for the title? 42-14.
I have to agree about those uniforms. What were they thinking? By the way, I’m a U of M grad.
I grew up a big UM fan, and while of course I rooted for Florida, I felt like that wasn’t even Michigan out there in those uniforms, certainly not the Michigan I grew up and rooted for in their classic uniform. Well at least they had the traditional helmet. Wish I could have said the same for the Gators, they just look silly in the white helmet (and they played silly, too).
Now that I think about it, they may have reminded me of Peeps. Not a very threatening presence on the field.
Did a quick search on Saban. I had no idea that he started at Toledo, went 9-2,and then went to be a defensive coordinator under Bill Belichick for the Browns.
(Seriously, how bad are the Browns, to have Belichick and Saban leading the team, and still not be better than 7-9 in 4 of 5 years? They went 11-5 in 1994, won the wildcard game over the Patriots, and lost to the Steelers after that.)
I also didn't know that he was absolutely mediocre at MSU, going 25-22-1 until he went 9-2 in his final year, leaving the team before their only Bowl game under Saban.
At LSU, he was very very good (48-16, one Title). Everyone knows that.
I didn't know that he only went 7-6 in his first year at Alabama (officially 2-6, with 5 wins vacated for improper textbook distribution)... and 113-12 since... plus 4 more Rings
Ha. How do you feel about the Florida offense’s execution?
I'm in favor of it.
Ding, ding, ding, ding! Winner!
