The William Golding novel is being adapted once again, this time by a male writing-directing duo. Warner Bros. is planning a gender-bent adaptation of the iconic William Golding novel Lord of the Flies.
Scott McGehee and David Siegel will write and direct the new take on the story, which follows a group of young boarding school students that end up stranded on an island and devolve into pre-pubescent savages over the course of the novel. Harry Hook directed a 1990 version of the story, while a 1963 feature was helmed by Peter Brook.

actually, its called the PTA or HOA.
I think the ending is spectacular: morality (suggested through a distant ship) seems to be returning, and the savage heart (the children) experience waves of regret, contrition, even terror.
Golding won the Nobel Prize for Literature (when it meant something) for this work alone. It's a masterpiece.
wonder if it will be as big a hit as the rebooted all-female “Ghost Busters”?
Until this book, upper middle class/middle class children were NEVER before portrayed as being crude, nasty, tribal, nor savages. The book isn't just an "adventure story"; it is a look at the psychological devastation that takes place when a group of usually well behaved, well educated, well looked after children are deprived of adult supervision, care, and rules...left completely to their own devices.
And the thing is...deep down, children really ARE savages, capable of horrid, vile, disgusting behavior. It is society that once kept that at bay; especially for the type of Brit kids who went to public ( what they call private boarding schools )school, at the time, and before that, when the book takes place.
"what could POSSIBLY go wrong?"
“Young women... half naked... animalistic... Might be worth a look..”
it’s already been done, in 1966: “One Million Years, B.C.”, one of the worst movies every made.
And to use older actresses, won't work at all.
The book and original film is the ONLY way the story makes any sense at all.
They could call it “Mistress of the Midges”
Actually those books fit well in to a classic liberal arts education.
Except that modern education leaves out the most important part of a Classic Liberal Arts Education; God and Religion.
In the past these books would have been taught in the context of civilization and the root of civilization that is God. Gods rule makes civilization possible.
Without God civilization falls in to might equals right, the strong survive and the rest fall to will of the strong or perish.
The teaching of these books are worse than useless without that background.
These books are the cautionary tales of what the world is like without God.
And unfortunately the Left is hell bent on taking us there.
Well put. And Lord of the Flies is singularly brilliant in this way.
The reason for this is simple. Girls pay to see movies at the cinema. Boys watch them for free on the Interwebs.
You cater to the paying customers.
Good lawdy!
What are they going to call it? Lady of the Flies? Doesn’t sound very inviting.
