The William Golding novel is being adapted once again, this time by a male writing-directing duo. Warner Bros. is planning a gender-bent adaptation of the iconic William Golding novel Lord of the Flies.
Scott McGehee and David Siegel will write and direct the new take on the story, which follows a group of young boarding school students that end up stranded on an island and devolve into pre-pubescent savages over the course of the novel. Harry Hook directed a 1990 version of the story, while a 1963 feature was helmed by Peter Brook.

In my experience girls can be every bit as brutal and savage to each other as boys.
There social rules are somewhat different but if you are different and outside the group you will be hounded are savaged until you either driven away or somehow manage to fit in to the group or become a member of another group that offers some protection.
Loners are not tolerated unless they are strong enough to defend themselves.
The human animal is not something you want to turn your back on; male or female.
If they made this movie I hope they got a good sociologist (and not a politically correct one) to consult on the movie. If some writer just adapted the book with female characters they probably fowled it up.
Doing some time in the inner cities studying female gangs would be helpful.
I Agree completely. As a man who has made a good effort to read most of the classics, I've never understood what people see in this book and the movie's are even worse.
The remake wasn't good.
Since I have never seen the first “Lord of the Flies” a female-lead in a remake really doesn’t mean much to me.
There are so few good actors these days, and there have not been many original movie ideas in Hollywood in decades I don’t really watch many movies anymore.
Lena Dun-ham.
You have a thing for 12 year old and much younger, 1/2 naked girls?
I know they consider it a literary masterpiece and I guess it is but when they made us read it in jr hs along with so many other pessimistic, depressing, negative books well, I just feel there was some pandering to a certain outlook on life by liberals at the time who thought it was the mark of superiority to be extremely shocking and negative.
I don’t care to be manipulated by an author who seeks to shock me and sits back and waits for applause as if that was the mark of his genius.
How about Fiddler on the Roof..?
With an all-black cast, I mean.
I think most men can identify...women are a magnitude greater in scariness. Their feral ferocity is light years beyond that of men.
Imagine a shoe sale on Saturday afternoon.
The original BLACK & WHITE movie was terrific; the remake, in color was lousy!
If they film it the way they did the last time they did it with the boys it’ll be 18 year olds.
It’ll be the only way this thing sells.
Lord of the Thighs
dilligaf?
In it for the cash. Smoke them like a fish.
You can find plenty of films about only girls marooned alone on an island but they are not appropriate for this forum. “Make Love not War” indeed.
You just know there’s going to be a tender lesbian scene. Or maybe a transgendered boy in with the girls.
“What if these are trans-girls?????”
Are you kidding me ? Any one of us could go to PRISON for not assuming they are !
Maybe there is a difference between Clique, Group and Organization ?
Remember this?
Receptionist: How do you write women so well?
Melvin Udall: I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.
