Not really and NOT with small to pubescent little girls.
To: central_va
You want to see little girls, from around the age of 6, or so to 11 or 12 year olds girls topless?

You want to see little girls, from around the age of 6, or so to 11 or 12 year olds girls topless? No. Let's increase the age to high school. Is that possible? I never saw the original so I have no clue. I thought they were all teenagers or older.

Won't be the same. Just be "Mean Girls" in the wild. We can see that for real on YouTube every week.
To: central_va
I take it that you also never read the book.
No, you really can't increase the age...it is what it is.
You want to see teen girls ( sorry, no topless scenes ) who are nasty and one kills the others...watch HEATHERS.
To: nopardons
I did not know Lord of the Flies was adapted from a book. I will have to check out Heathers.

Soon Hollywood will come out with Remake of the following: ‘Gone With the Wind’ (with Ashley Wilkes as a TG person), King Lear (King Lear will have a guy as his Queen), Romeo and Juliet (Romeo will be a girl as is Juliet), Blue Lagoon (Endorsed by NAMBLA, since the adult survive along with 2 boys) and Dial M for Murder (set at the local Planned Homicide clinic, the murder are the babies).

Thanks
I would rather not be right about this.
I can’t deny the evidence however.

I read the book long ago; so long ago, that what you posted never entered my mind, because it just was NOT anything like it is today, back then.
OTOH...I was not all that old/removed from the age groups talked about and knew that kids were mean and vicious underneath the facade of being "civilized", so it struck a cord.
Times have changed and yes, evidence proves that your post is not only correct, but sadly, one of the most insightful ever posted to FR.

It's a great book and well worth the read; however, if you aren't even vaguely familiar with Brit ( and there is one American one that I know of, plus there used to be some German ones as well ) Cathedral Choir Boy private school for the upper middle to very wealthy, you will have a bit of trouble really understand a bit of the book. It won't totally spoil it it for you, but I felt that you needed the warning.
OTOH..."HEATHERS" is a very "dark" movie made primarily for a teenage girl crowd. You very well may enjoy it, though.

‘Caulder’ was pretty bad too, but Raquel was in both so ...
Why not just rename it ‘Mean Girls’? These flakes cast a black man as the gunslinger Roland Deschain in the movie.
There were no black people in Gilead. King mentions a group of dark-skinned people, but none from that kingdom.
IOW it’s politically correct BS insulting to those who plowed through those doorstops. Have you ever read one of his introductions to his own books? They’re like a Tolstoy novel, if he wrote baloney. I would go shout at the clouds if t wasn’t night time. Why, when I was a lad we ...

“It was a lousy book, that made a lousy movie and now lets remake it as another lousy movie.”
No kidding! Reading it in Junior High was TORTURE! I had discovered so many other, BETTER, authors to read by then.
It’s junk. It’s what LIBERALS want their Dystopian World to look like - with THEM on top of the rest of us.

Hollywood feels that way about Socialism/Communism, too! It’ll work out just fine! But only if THIS generation manages it.

That is very high praise coming from you who have been of FR longer than me.
I am not sure that I deserve it, but thank you.

This is going to sink without a trace in theaters. Apparently the Ghostbusters remake fiasco wasn’t enough to convince those woke, feminist MBAs in Hollywood. There is no one clamoring to see well-known stories featuring male characters remade with female characters. Give audiences good movies about women in their own stories - Wonder Woman - and they’ll make them hits.
To: Beowulf9
I know they consider it a literary masterpiece and I guess it is
The rest of your post indicates that you didn't think it was a masterpiece, and I think that's perfectly valid. Art is subjective - if you didn't think it was good, that opinion has just as much weight as any positive opinion about 'Lord of the Flies'.
For me, the book is indeed a masterpiece - a chilling and very well-written novel about how easily the veneer of civilization is peeled away. I didn't much like it when it was required reading in freshman year of high school, but I've come to love it as an adult. The fact that the characters are males - young boys - is not incidental to the story. The behavior - both good and bad - is utterly typical of boys and not of girls.
To: Pontiac
In my experience girls can be every bit as brutal and savage to each other as boys. Oh, indeed - and it holds true for adults as well. Just ask anyone who has worked as a bouncer.

Oh you well deserved the plaudit I hand you! :-)
I am very even handed; I go after moronic posts and correct them and/or trash the poster. I also hand out praise when deserved and you deserved every single word I wrote to and about you; BRAVO....WELL DONE!
