It's a great book and well worth the read; however, if you aren't even vaguely familiar with Brit ( and there is one American one that I know of, plus there used to be some German ones as well ) Cathedral Choir Boy private school for the upper middle to very wealthy, you will have a bit of trouble really understand a bit of the book. It won't totally spoil it it for you, but I felt that you needed the warning.

OTOH..."HEATHERS" is a very "dark" movie made primarily for a teenage girl crowd. You very well may enjoy it, though.

I bought this book and read a few chapters, but I was disappointed. Most of the boys seemed to be quite stupid. Only some of them were somewhat bright. One would think that there should be some really bright boys (IQ 130+) there and the average IQ should be higher if they were from a highly selective private school.

It also surprised me that no boys tried to act like Christians (They didn’t pray, etc.). If this is a realistic portrait, does it mean that even in 1940s or 1950s almost all English choirboys were atheists?
