Miami Florida TV news reports MOSQUES in Houston (compare to Osteen) Is this true?

Can anyone shed light on the facts? Just heard on local Miami news that Joel Osteen (I am not a fan) was pressured to open the doors of his church because MOSQUES were helping the destitute.

I know Osteen's church was flooded for a time, but are there REALLY mosques serving as shelters?

Heard this yesterday from a Trump hater. Now I hear it on "news".

Osteen’s church is a distribution center, it is not a designated shelter. He is taking in refugees now. This is according to Osteen. That is all I know. But Trump haters are useless.

There was a Muslim group or groups providing aid in Katrina.

Some are legitimately humanitarian as part of their works-based religion... but there are cases where Palestinian terror groups use charity as a means of disarming criticism ... the same way Soros claims to be a philanthropist.

Don’t you think hat CNN would have been there filming and interviewing the imam about how wonderful moslems are and acting as though moslems were the only ones doing anything...carrying the infidel out of the waters on their backs etc ???

have you seen one boat piloted by a moslem ??? one woman with a headcovering helping at the shelters ???

Joel Osteen Church had some flooding, and the roads to it, including Interstate was flooded, so getting to it was issue. Osteen issued statement that he would open Lakewood Church to victims, once Shelters were full. I saw on Twitter, that Mosques had opened doors to victims, however not a verified tweet.

OSTEEN CHURCH were removing things to lay down air mattresses, BEFORE OPENING DOORS to victims, NOW THAT MAKES SENSE! there WERE ONLY LESS THAN 300 in shelters on news last night???? So what is all LEFT HOOPLA about Osteen opening his church?? IT IS JUST EXCUSE TO ATTACK TRUMP SUPPORTER, THAT’S IT! AN EXCUSE TO WHINE ABOUT RIGHT!

AMERICANS need to ‘consider the source’ of all these fake accusations and NONSENSE COMMITS using emotions to get people to stop listening to GODLY MESSAGES..PERIOD! The microwave mentality of I have to know or have it in 32 seconds it killing a nation! Osteen blocked some JACKASSES on Twitter, as he knew what he was working on, and did not have time for left insanity!

Lately, FR and other GOP sites are being just as impatient as left...GEE WHIZ, HASTE MAKES WASTE SAYS BIBLE! If shelters aren’t full, then what is all whining about??

Yah.

I’d trust them about as much as a Muslim dog-sitting service.

There are mosques that serve as polling places, as do some churches, so I don’t doubt there are some that are listed as emergency shelters as well, most likely the same ones.

probably not- buildings need to be designated as shelters by fema before they can be used for shelters- from what i understand- supposedly it’s illegal to open a building without that designation by fema from what I’ve read

Just saw a guy from CNN, “Omar Jiminez” (?) say TWO Houston mosques were open as shelters. Don’t know if true or fake news.

Are the mosques helping anyone in the Jewish community??

Muslims always go for visible “works” when invading a country. They appear pious, anti alcohol and very friendly. Its a Jeffery Dhalmer thing.

I don’t think Osteen’s church was flooded. But the area around his church had a lot of flooding, and it was probably difficult to get to his church. For him to open his church, people who are employed as church administrators, and church volunteers, need to be present and organize the effort. For a church the size of Osteen’s, many of his key people probably live several miles from the church, and it would be very hard for them to get to the church.

In the area around where I live, several churches have opened their doors to people who had to evacuate their homes. No mosques in my area have done this. Maybe they have done this for their members, in which case I wouldn’t know about it, but not for the general public.

I am a member of a Nextdoor web site for my neighborhood, and refuge locations for evacuees are posted there for our part of town. No mosques have been listed. Maybe somewhere else in Houston, mosques are opened for this purpose, but not in my area.

Islam commands charity to Muslims.

Islam permits charity to non-Muslims.

Some Muslims are bad Muslims and therefore good people.

Houston has a number of mosques, with the largest one being downtown in the old Courthouse building. I was stunned when I visited the city for a conference and saw this giant “Dawa Center” in one of the city’s most splendid old buildings.

It’s probably Saudi money behind them.

In the Katrina case you’d likely be right to be suspicious as the only one I saw in the news was a front for a group connected to terrorism; it wasn’t sincere outreach it was just a play for “legitimacy.”

The only ones I’d be inclined to trust would be those not associated with CAIR, if any are still to be found... such as non-Palestinian muslims who came over generations ago.

It’s Houston... oil biz, hospital business... lots of muslims live there and they would naturally support their mosque being a designated emergency center so they’d have a comfortable refuge to go since they have particular dietary laws... they wouldn’t want to be stuck in a shelter where Spam sandwiches are served.

Now if the mosque has an arsenal in it they might not want the extra people nosing around. =:-O

Scratch the word “crook” from that last post. I have no idea how it got there.

Pics on line yesterday showed Osteen’s church garage flooded (looked deep) and parts of the church inside flooded and sandbagged...
