Texas is bracing itself for the storm of the decade as Hurricane Harvey barrels towards the state, which is expecting catastrophic flooding, power outages, winds up to 130mph and 30 inches of rain. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Harvey has 'rapidly intensified' and experts say weather conditions have created the perfect recipe for the monster Category 3 hurricane to form and crash into Texas late on Friday night. The national guard has been mobilized amid fears over the life-threatening flash flooding, which poses 'a grave risk' to Texans as the hurricane is expected to be the strongest to hit the United States mainland in 12 years since Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

I'd say so, ever been stung by a fire ant at all, let alone... there?

Harvey is a white man’s name so this storm will be filled with hate and racism. Minorities and women will be hit hardest.

The “perfect conditions” occur every time there is a non-Democrat in the White House.

Yeah, but they could say it's named after Harvey Milk.

Undoubtedly.

The fire ant colony forms a ball - about the size of a beach ball - and kind of "rolls" along the water until it hits something to climb on and ride the flood out. I wouldn't want them to pick the same tree that I was holding on to.

I saw it on Nat Geographic, so it *must* be true....

130mph winds and rain cause alligator-infested flood

Almost as good as a sharknado!

I saw some Bigfoot movie on there starring Alice Cooper, that was epic in its badness.

Say what? That actually sounds awesome. Pinging epic Alice Cooper fan Salamander.

Prayers up - after living through Katrina and the aftermath, my heart goes out to those in the path of Harvey.

I see a lot of weather extremes as I live in two places — central Missouri and the Phoenix valley.

I know central and western Missouri well and tornados, big storms, mud and flash floods are all second nature to me.

The Valley of the Sun is now something I have been around for visits for 20 years and lived there for 5. It does get hot.

All of these things are things you prepare and plan for and then face what is dealt out with the understanding you can’t plan around the full impact of certain events.

Allright, so I went and looked it up.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1876261/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_5

Starring Danny Bonaduce, Barry Williams ('Greg' from The Brady Bunch) and Howard Hesseman ('Dr. Johnny Fever' from WKRP). And Alice Cooper. Talk about Star Power.

I'll freely admit that a certain amount of scotch might have influenced my opinion of the movie.

FWIW, the top review of the movie on IMDB was "Quite possibly the worst TV movie ever made. The special effects Bigfoot reminded me of the Snow Monster from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Only the snow monster was scary. While this movie was suppose to be cheesy and way out there. It failed on every level of film making. It was so awful even the editing sucked. The editing. Terrible script. Awful acting. Horrible cinematography. Dumb story. Cheesy special effects. There is not one redeemable facet of this movie. Worst Director of the year. I was embarrassed for everyone involved, especially Sherilyn Fenn, who I love. She was the only one I felt did a good job till she sprung into "action" halfway through. By that point I was laughing and gasping for the pain I felt for this group. Had they taken this garbage script and played it like satire, and went ten times over board on the set, it might have been so bad it's good. I'll never get out of my brain Greg Brady on that flying contraption. Oh, my God, what the hell were they thinking? While I understand actors need to act to put food on the table. I'm ashamed for everyone involved. Horrendous, simply horrendous.

So, don't expect Oscar-level cinema, here. :-) :-)

Sounds like a blast to me, like a 70's sitcom who's who doing Plan 9 From Outer Space but with a Sasquatch and a shock rocker. Who played Bigfoot, Fred Gwynne lol?

This map shows potential for total rainfall. That is where the most damage can occur.
Wind will be a problem closer into the eye area but sustained rain will cause some
major flooding in the low areas.

Mr. Gwynne would have lent some class to this movie. :-)

Since it's a slow Friday, I read some of the reviews on IMDB, and am laughing out loud. Worth a look....

The fact you call the storm offensive is offensive.

It celebrates the LBGTQCJONSSWCFR crowd with the proper colors.
