Ricardo Garcia bought a “Make America Great Again” hat months ago when Donald Trump announced he was running for president. He never thought wearing it could get him into trouble and land someone else in jail.
It happened while Garcia was shopping at Sam’s Club in Brandon.
“(He said) Ah, you go for Trump, I don’t like it. I said, well you can go for Hillary and I don’t like that, but that’s the way it is,” says Garcia.
He says 37-year-old Patrick Mickens was upset about Garcia’s “Make America Great Again” hat, supporting Trump. Mickens reportedly tried to pick a fight. Garcia says he tried to just walk away.
“I grabbed my grocery cart, and I turned around and my back was to him and slowly, suddenly he was like pow! and hit me right here,” said Garcia as he pointed to a bruised eye.
A veteran, Garcia served in the Army for more than 20 years. He says he put his life in danger more than once. He says being treated this way hurts.
It’s been an ugly election season that’s created a massive divide in the country. While seeing her dad treated this way, “for a hat” upsets Dezired Garcia, she says her family is using this moment to send a message.
“Why is it you can’t speak professionally about politics? Why can’t you act like a gentleman or a lady when talking about politics? Why do you have to counter everything with violence and disrespect?”
While his attacker is charged with felony battery on a victim over 65, Ricardo hopes he learns from this experience.
Mickens has been released on bond.
I hope the attacker gets raped in prison because bubba doesnt like the part in his hair or the fact that he is still breathing.
That said, the left has gotten even more violent and deranged since then, so prepare accordingly.
I used to wonder how Hitler got so many people to kill for him.
I can see now that some liberals would be happy to.

I was at Sam's this AM, carrying my 'fanny pack AKA holster' wearing my MAGA hat, and TRUMP, MAGA bright red shirt and didn't even see a negative eyeball.
There may have been some but I didn't see them.
Hell, I'm 68 and would have put him on his ass. But I'm also 6'2" and 220 so he probably wouldn't have tried.
I would hope 10 years minimum with a 7 year possible parole hearing unless he had previous violent priors. In that case make it 30 years with a 29 year possible parole hearing.
Then put this on all media broadcasts to make sure the thugs know there's a steep price to pay for picking on old or disable people. If the guy was under 55 and healthy; make the penalties half of what I listed. That's still a wake up call to these thugs. Of course if they had any smarts they wouldn't be dong things like this in the first place.
Good argument for stand your ground laws and concealed carry. Young punk goes after old or disabled person like that; it should be perfectly legal put a bullet through the brain of the punk.
Sometime around the Ferguson riots, I ran into a young black guy in my local Home Depot, who was wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt.
He was attracting quite a few looks and raised eyebrows, but no one challenged him, nor did anyone acost the guy. And this is in a majority white suburb of Dallas.
I’ll be 66 in Oct. 5’7” and 240 lbs ... BUT I also been training/teaching Okinawan karate for a lot of years(50 years+). AND I ALWAYS carry here in Arizona. It would have been a VERY bad day for this clown if he picked the wrong person to mess with.
