Liberal reason?
Ha
Sadly, us normal folks actually think and thoughtfully consider things before passing judgement.
There is no longer any room for reason, thoughtfulness or truth. That’s not important right now.
“You’ve got to trust your instincts
and let go of regret
You’ve got to bet on yourself now Star
..cause that’s your best bet”
But with climate, for example, their claim to be able to predict the weather 30 years from now is laughable when one considers the joke told about weather forecasters: "I just finished shoveling 6 inches of partly cloudy from my driveway".
“For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled.” — Richard Feynman, physicist
Technology implies some kind of tool or device that can be produced many times. Moving from science to engineering. :)
Well, no science in engineering. That’s a relief.
... this is a loaded statement.
Uncertainty is an integral part of the atomic theory initiated by Bohr, and brought to fruition in the 1920's and forward. In other words, it's part of our fundamental understanding of atoms, molecules and hence all of ordinary matter. It's impossible to do without it, scientifically.
So to say that science has "embraced" uncertainty gives a false impression that this was some sort of philosophical decision.
QM, including quantum uncertainty, explains at a stroke many disparate properties, starting with the periodic table, of course, and moving on to the basic theories of chemistry and solid state physics, including for example the properties of metals, then progressing to explanations of many strange and arcane experimental results ... all based on a fixed set of simple mathematical principles governing the behavior of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
Then Lo and behold, the entire realm of high energy particle physics yields to the same set of principles. All to the greater glory of God, if I may be so bold as to say so.
Thanks, but I prefer you summarize rather than me wasting band width and data on u toob.
What is it you are trying to tell me?
Where the rubber meets the road. Science is interesting and even fascinating but when it is applied to change our lives...
That you/we should understand what young people are actually being taught. I can't tell you anything.
Oh, I agree- the drivel we see our youth being “taught”.
All our kids need is how to read write and calculate- then let them alone to decide how to live, with input from non-tenured adult non family members.
