Dozens of white nationalists marched through the University of Virginia campus on Friday night carrying torches while chanting You will not replace us.
The demonstrators, who also yelled "blood and soil", a phrase tied to Nazi ideology, made their way through the Charlottesville campus before encircling a group of counterprotesters gathered around a statue of Thomas Jefferson.
A fight broke out, and some of the white nationalists swung their tiki torches at people, according to the Daily Progress.
Protesters wielding torches march through campus chanted "You will not replace us".
Members of both sides were reportedly hit with pepper spray, and several people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Police arrived on campus, declared it an unlawful assembly, and ordered the crowds to disperse. At least one person was arrested.

I don’t think the vote was limited to white males but to free males — that is males who were not slaves. If you were a free black man you could vote. But maybe I misremember my history.
In some cases, of course, what Jefferson "wanted" didn't necessarily comport with the principles of the Nation that he helped create—in order to form a more perfect Union, etc...
I live in Charlottesville.
Signer and the rest of city council have taken a hard left turn. Their mishandling of the issues around the Lee statue play a major role in this.
But it is a mistake to defend this crowd of protestors. They represent a virulent, hate-filled part of the Right, which I want nothing to do with.
There are going to be 1,000 Virginia State Police stationed here today, there are road closures all over town, and the VA National Guard are on calL.
Would you like to see this happen where you live?
BS is in the eye of the beholder, and Richard Spencer is right there with Louis Farrakhan and his ilk.
Who would want to be like those clowns with their racial divisiveness?
They're all dead wrong—right along with racist Richard Spencer...
Who is John Kessler?
I agree with you. Who are these people?
“the Marchers”
Ok, keep playing stupid. BLM likes to tell
Themselves they are peaceful activists too.
“nationalists”
I wish they wouldn’t call themselves? “nationalists”
Otherwise, the media is more than willing to exploit that word.
Video has a group of white people yelling “black lives matter”. If those same white people walked in a black neighborhood at night there’s a good chance they’d be killed. Idiots
Interesting. I was under the impression that it was a civil rights march for Caucasians. Please tell us what hateful things they said. People need to know.
I don’t how very much about Kessler other than that he has tried to remove Wes Bellamy from his position as vice-mayor. In Charlottesville, the vice mayor and the mayor are both elected members of the City Councul.
i don’t have anything good to say about Bellamy. He is bad news, too.
It makes you wonder what the hell these guys are even getting at that that line of discussion even came up.
The Naturalization Act of 1790 restricted citizenship to “free white persons of good character.”

I never heard of John Kessler. Who are these people? Good luck.
Terry McAuliffe must be worried. Can’t have white people expressing dissatisfaction with utopian America.
Given your moniker, I assume you are a native Virginian. I am not, and am quite familiar with the type of Southerner who views outsiders with distaste, and even hostility.
What do you suppose “blood and soul” means to the protestors who chant it?
One of the worst things to happen during the obamination was America losing a sense of self, identity. The polarization was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Seeing the POTUS apologizing for our nation, bowing before foreign heads of state, etc were things even Carter wouldn’t do. It was absolutely surreal.
As I said before, if that what this was supposed to b...THIS is what they came up with?!
Total PR failure.
There is a distinct whiff of agitprop in the air.
It means "get your cracka-ass out of our 'hood."
