For the last few days, I've noticed Matt Drudge's Drudge Report website has stopped printing photos in full color, opting instead for a cool, steely grey tone. Tonight he uses a sepia or reddish brown tone in one photo. The photos have a classic look, as if one took an image from a famous or infamous moment, and created a Lithograph from it. A tedious messy medium, those lithographs.
The old Wall Street Journal used a Hedcut printing method for their half column illustrations. Hedcuts use the stipple method of many small dots and the crosshatching method to produce a look that resembles woodcuts from old style newspapers, or engravings on certificates and currency. The style was created by a Kevin Sprouls in 1979. I haven't purchased a Wall St. Journal in years, so I don't know if they still use this style or not.
My question is, how long do you think it will be before Matt begins printing in full color again? For most people, this question brings up the image of that fellow on the cartoon Family Guy, with him saying "Who The Hell Cares?", but for those of us who may have worked in printing, commercial art, or graphic arts at one time, or took courses on such topics, it may cross the mind. I, for one don't expect this to last any longer than the next top tier Celebrity death, or outbreak of an actual hot war with Kim Jong Un.
No he isn’t. Lordy you are confused
You are so far off base
Such as?
He is one of the few sites reporting the good news....jobs numbers, executive orders reversed
He is an aggregator....most press is anti Trump. Drudge finds stories to report that are pisitive
Yes he has.
The WH is a dump
Apple's one-button mouse was a design statement.
To get a context menu, you held the control key while clicking. As for scrolling, well, you drug the stinkin` scroll bar(s).
Of course, everyone knows mice should have at least three buttons, just as pixels have R, G, B, and A (alpha, or opacity).
Today's Apple mouse arguably has many more than three buttons, albeit virtual, not real. And the scroll bars appear when scrolling and disappear the rest of the time.
Purity of design has its limits.
I also noticed the decline in the quality of reporting at Drudge for many months.
Another freeper suggested the alternative site The Liberty Daily, which is nearly identical in its format/font, etc.
I think it is wonderful, and have replaced my Drudge bookmark with Liberty Daily instead.
I’d go $1K on this and $100 for every reply!
Grrr
Until he’s able to afford color film, idiot.
Drudge is short the market. Wants this baby to tank.
I can still remember our first night with our BRAND NEW COLOR TV! I don’t have any recollection of the last night with our old black and white tv, or what ever happened to it. I think the tv guy (needed to deliver and set up any tv back in the 1960’s) took it back to the tv shop to be resold.
I wonder if he went with black & white to distract from the content change...
This
Thanks for that ilnk!
Somebody stole his hat? Gay men don’t age well.
It was Drudge that brought me to FreeRepublic, almost 20 years ago.
Wow, when you said Liberty Daily is almost identical in layout to Drudge, you weren’t kidding!
It almost looks like a mirror site.
Yep, but times change.
He does say a great deal about history if one reads between the lines. He may feel this to be an ‘historic era’ and edits accordingly; but eh! not so much
“historic” (by posting pertinent information) as it is an “era” per say. Why is that? In order to not provide new smells for hunting dogs, confuse them? Is the man growing old and weary? After all he does have a staff. Perhaps his way of showing he’s tossing in the towel after a number of years in being the foremost site on the net. He rose to the occasion first after seeing the need. He’s ready to end the battle and sit aside for a spell. “Strange Things Are Happening” - Red Buttons, 1953
Is THIS really important? Wow who gives a damn what lil mattie does?
