The lead FBI agent in the Bunkerville Standoff prosecution took the stand Monday in the trial at the Federal Courthouse in Las Vegas.
FBI Special Agent Joel P. Willis was testifying using images with big captions of the defendants names and small dots on them said to represent the defendants.
The four men (Eric Parker, Steven Stewart, Scott Drexler and Ricky Lovelien) were not convicted in their first trial.
Now the federal government led by prosecutor Steven Myhre, the Acting US Attorney in Las Vegas, is doubling down with the cooperation of US District Judge Gloria Navarro.
One example is this new collection of visual evidence from various media sources including Facebook posts and social media that was presented in shotgun fashion by Special Agent Willis using many photos but not all clear and close up views of the accused.
In addition lead prosecutor Myhre, who was praised for his leadership in the case last month by US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has gotten the judge to ban the defense from using the First or Second Amendment to justify their participation in the April 12, 2014 standoff.
During Monday's testimony, defense lawyer Richard Tanasi asked a law enforcement witness if the offenses being committed that day were so serious and heinious, why wasn't anyone arrested.
Prosecutor Myhre objected and Judge Navarro sustained his objection.
