From jail to Yale: Felon faces scrutiny in bid to be lawyer

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A convicted felon who turned his life around, won acclaim as a published poet and graduated from Yale Law School is being forced to prove that he has the moral character and fitness to practice law in Connecticut.

So didn’t Bruce Cutler who defended John Gotti (except maybe for the jail time). Moral fiber and ethics matter in the legal realm.

When did CT start considering “moral character” as a prerequisite for lawyers?

They don’t do so for any of their elected officials in the US Congress or within the State.
