I have seen a couple of cases in the press where, in an Indian casino, someone won big and immediately they slapped an “out of order” sign on the machine and refused to pay. I haven’t heard of that happening in Vegas, not to say it hasn’t, but I haven’t heard of it.
I worked briefly in the industry as a software engineer.
The machines included a “hot player” notification, informing the management that a patron was doing unusually well - so the house could...distract the player as they saw fit.
It has happened in Lost Wages.
And in Atlantic City.
And pretty much every place there is gambling.
IMHO if there is a problem with the machine the house should pay out with a smile and then go after their service people.
Not everyone agrees with me.
