Ricou Brwoning who played the Gill Man in “The Creature From The Black Lagoon” still lives. He is 87.
He was a student at Florida State and was asked to pick up some guys at the airport and drive them to Wakulla Springs.
After they looked it over, they asked Browning to swim underwater to see how the cameras did in the spring. They liked the way he swam and asked him to be the monster.
A different actor played him on land.

As a kid, I was a huge fan. Some of my fondest memories are your movies.
I always rooted for Godzilla, BTW, regardless of which monster he was fighting that day.

Salute to Mr. Nakajima who brought Godzilla to life and gave the character personality.
Although some of the later films were somewhat campy the original (when released) was/is the touchstone of all dinosaur movies IMHO.
RIP Haruo, long live Godzilla.
