Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to push for a tax on wealthy New Yorkers to pay for improvements needed to address the crisis engulfing New York City

IIRC, Bloomie realized that around 55K NYC residents pay for a very sizable chunk of the city's budget, and was loathe to do any direct taxation of them to make NYC less desirable as a place of residence.

Drivers in Iowa and Georgia and Alaska have been subsidizing urban mass transit for 50 years with the federal gasoline tax.

The master plan is to have NYs entire population be govt employees. Guaranteed Democrat majorities foever!
