Sorry I have to say this. But FR has become nearly unusable these days.
You used to have a feeling that within 30 seconds to a minute, your page would be resolved and loaded.
But no more. I don't know how many times lately, I have hit refresh or picked a new thread only to wait and wait and wait and then I give up and go to another site.
The powers that be recommend limiting your window options to twenty. My reply is, if that's the problem, the just taking the option away and making it twenty should be the solution.
And I know about DOS attacks - they can easily be filtered by a front-end server - so that shouldn't be a problem.
Anyways, whatever it is, it's getting series. And Hugh!

Been here since very near the beginning and NEVER saw what it has been like recently
There's software to fix this issue. I finally decided to spend some time today researching this since FR was no longer working well enough to use it. If you like I can do it again and compile a list of software fixes for this.
As I said in another post though; it really is time to hire a professional software company to redo the entire site with formatting options, like buttons, and drop down menu's like any other website newer than 20 years old. In other words; make it usable again. MIUA! I don't understand the reluctance to do this.

Yeah? We have had numurous threads on this subject and that is the problem.
If people are abandoning FR and going to FaceCrook, then FR is dying, as is JR & JR income.
One day they will lose to FaceCrook and lose control of this website and forum, then BLAM-O...they will have to get a J.O.B......which sucks....

Your claim that Jim has ‘made millions’ from FR.
He’s explained, numerous times and very recently, the expense involved in keeping this place up and running.

Actually, beside normal downtime, seeing as this problem continues, if intermittently, after many Freepathons, and with scare cursory details as to it being resolved, I think many people would contribute more if they felt it would result in the problem being actually fixed.
