UPDATE 2: Patinkin told Tbe New York Times today that he was cancelling his plans to appear in The Great Comet because of the diversity issues. I would never accept a role knowing it would harm another actor, Patinkin said. I hear what members of the community have said and I agree with them. I am a huge fan of Oak and I will, therefore, not be appearing in the show.
UPDATE 1: In an Instagram post this morning, Onaodowan confirmed that he is leaving Great Comet August 13 and will not be returning. I am grateful to have had the time to bring this character to life with a remarkable cast that truly make the Imperial Theatre a sacred place every night, he wrote. My work is just a reflection of what they bring, have brought and will continue to bring, be it me, Mandy or whoever is co-pilot to Denee (Benton, his costar).

If I had a dollar for every time Manny quit or was fired from a production of any sort I’d be driving a much nicer truck. Very good (maybe great on stage ... overrated on the screen) actor who takes himself and his “craft” far too seriously.
I You keep using that term “diversity.”
I do not think it means what you think it means.
Surprised it took five posts.
Mandy is “virtue signaling” in a big way.
It keeps getting more ridiculous .
.
All we think when we see Mandy Patinkin is “white privilege”.
He should retire.
He has ruined the lives of enough “people of color”. /s
Agreed. He is, however, a very talented actor.
He had no problem playing Satan in Touched by an Angel, though. Just saying.
Nothing new here. Mandy Patankin has quit so many shows and TV series, that this is simply another of his failed attempts to be an actor or whatever the heck he thinks he is.
>>I would never accept a role knowing it would harm another actor, Patinkin said.<<
By definition, every time you accept ANY role and are paid you hurt another actor who would have had your role, Mandy.
End your career, Mandy. The carnage must be stopped!
When your net worth is 9 figures you can virtue signal without personal consequences.
I’ve never liked Mandy,I find him too intense.
I have also never found ONE person that agrees with me.
Not one. :-)
.
If you read the whole article, it sounds like the other actor was forced out so Patinkin could take the role.
I can’t say that I like him. :)
I do think that he can act, which is no small accomplishment, nor is it a reflection on his value as a human being.
Thanks-—I was not aware that there was an article.

My neighbor at the country house in upstate NY.
Guess he’ll be around more now.
