I used to have a turtle who knew the sound of my feet when I would walk up the stairs at a certain time every day, after work. He knew he’d get fed, and would jump off his rock and swim around, with his face against the glass. At other times of day, he’d just stay on his rock despite my weight coming up the stairs.

They “know” you in more ways than just through sight - they know your footprints and vibrations; like a horse senses when its rider turns his head to look left or right...
Funny! But isn’t it amazing!!??
An old boss of mine had some health issues; but after 20 years he went to get his flying license. He got started on it, but with the regulation manual at 4-inches thick compared to the 1/2-inch he had flown with, he quickly realized that at 72-years old it wasn’t going to be feasible.
His son got him Microsoft Flight or whatever - and he would spend hours doing that. He would fly old routes that he had done in the past - he loved it.

LOL!
But it IS amazing. Ever since the Internet came along - and even before that - people were always saying that the world was getting ‘smaller’ all the time.
To me, the world just gets bigger, every day! I see so many things, encounter so many people, and LEARN so much more, than anyone in my position could ever have done 20 or 30 years ago.
I have critters and people to look after; and while I enjoyed travel somewhat when I was young, I always realized something: whenever I came home, what I had seen and experienced was always more real in my MIND than it had been when I was there looking at it!
