As usual in majority of cases cop was just following proper policies and procedures so nothing found wrong; next case.

Police departments, like most of our institutions, are mere shadows of what they were 30-40 years ago. Diversity and multiculturalism, coupled with a diminished qualification standard, are at the root of the problem. Most officers today wouldn’t have been considered for the job decades ago.

Leslie Redmond of the Minneapolis NAACP said she and other members of the NAACP who attended “stand in solidarity with the family.”

Nekima Levy-Pounds, one of three mayoral candidates who attended, said, “I hope and pray this is a wake-up call for the community to stop being divided by race and socioeconomic status ... for treating everybody with respect.”

The race hustlers are trying to comendier this. She’s about as black as Darrel Hannah.

At least the officers got home safely at the end of their shift.

No gun found?....I wonder where shooting from safety through your cruiser’s door falls on their department’s proper use of force continuum?

Pro tip: In a big city, call the police only if bodies need to be processed or, if your insurance company requires a police report to file a claim.

When my senile mother began calling 911 on a regular basis to report that something was amiss with me, I had hordes of cops showing up at my door. They were always polite, if concerned, and always understood the situation once it was cleared up. Being a confirmed FR reader, I instantly notified them that I had a dog - so they wouldn’t shoot him. They were always surprised I mentioned this!

About 45 years ago is when I first saw the "Us against Them" mentality come in to play in police-citizen interactions. Now it seems to be a required doctrine for the job.

All of this invective without the facts is inexcusable. Stop.

That’s just it...no one knows now if he does or not...so his “pig” comment, or ones like it, are gonna cost him some teeth someday. I guess it’s ok, they’re his teeth.

I’ll wait for further details indeed never trust the first three stories from any news out let they report what they think went on.

Wait a minute here. Are they saying that the cop in the passenger seat shot the woman through the driver’s side door? That would mean shooting inches from the chest of the cop who was in the driver’s seat. If true, that seems incredibly reckless and risky as to the other cop’s life.

It sounds like an unintentional discharge from the passenger cop who fired it as he leaned over to listen to her. He was in a dark alley and likely had it unholstered. That, or he fired from being startled, when she suddenly stuck her head in the window and stared talking.
Cops are being ambushed because of BLM. One sitting in her car just a week or so ago. They are very jittery and we have BLM to thank.

Tragic for everyone. Many lives crushed by this event.

I’m into my Medicare years, so given that as a back drop, think of any 25 year old today and compare them to kids of the late 50s, 60s. Now, toss in a heavy dose of liberalism, watered down qualifications and the all important diversity aspect. Between me and you I wouldn’t call a cop today for anything but an insurance report.

“revealing that the cops’ body cameras were not switched on at the time of the incident”

There needs to be a law that when this happens the cops are automatically assumed to be guilty of premeditated wrongdoing.

I’ll wait for further details but I won’t be surprised if this woman was killed by a cop who SHOULD NOT BE A COP.

Root cause of the majority of these kind of shootings.

...

Good. So far it’s a strange story.

She’s using her future husband’s last name already. His 22 year old son (she’s 40) is calling her mom. She was over 300 feet away from home in a back alley. She reported an assault in that alley. For some reason, the officer felt the need to shoot her through the door of the police car. The future husband was away on a business trip.

Even if she was armed, it wouldn’t give the cops cause to just shoot her. This is the USA, we have the right to keep and bear arms, and if cops shoot someone who is armed and not brandishing a weapon, that cop is a murderer. Cops have no special rights to carry weapons, they have exactly the same rights that we all do and no more.

How can we on Free Republic rail against fake news levied against Donald Trump but believe this to be gospel?

So you're saying that the media is lying about her being shot? Being shot by the police? Dead? What's supposed to be fake?

Yep, and the small minority of bad/incompetent cops give the great bulk of cops (who do a fantastic, difficult and largely thankless job) a bad reputation. And THAT pisses me off!

My immediate suspicion is female cop. They’re going to claim negligent discharge. Whoever it is, remove that person from the police force.

Even if the cop turns out to be a guy?

There was no ambiguity in my statement, so tuck your little PC antennae back in your head. No sexist or phobe heretics for you to denounce here.
