The lenses, which were described as a "blueish mass", were causing her discomfort that she attributed to dry eye and old age, British media reported after the case was published in the British Medical Journal on Jul 5.
Eye specialists initially discovered 17 lenses "bound together by mucus", before a further examination revealed that another 10 lenses were stuck in the eye.
Rupal Morjaria, a specialist trainee ophthalmologist who dealt with the case at Solihull Hospital near Birmingham, reportedly said: "We were really surprised that the patient didnt notice it because it would cause quite a lot of irritation while it was sitting there."

Even one contact irritates the crap out of my eyes.
I am wondering how much time she and whoever she may have called spent crawling on the floor looking for ANOTHER misplaced lens.
I want that Dr treating me?? Affirmative Action Hire??
“SHE should have been feeling some discomfort”
No crap Batman. Ya think she should have been discomforted in any way??
Oh yea, how many years since she had an eye exam under that wonderful medical system?

At one time the saying was the sun NEVER set on the British Empire (Flag).
Well folks, better round up a good copy of taps cause the sun getting ready to set on the Empires home ground.
How was she able to obtain contact lenses without a prescription? I am required to see my eye doctor every year to order a new batch.
She is a dumba$$.
In Europe you can buy contact lenses at the drugstore without a prescription
I did not know that. Thanks for the info!
I’d say “here’s you sign but I’d be afraid she’d put in a contact lens so she could read it....
This story reminds me of a service call I performed on a woman’s security system years ago. She was complaining her smoke detector kept going off. I opened the smoke detector and at least 15 cockroaches fell out. “This could be your problem, ma’am.”
... or instructions....
Was her eye Buldging?
Murine can only do so much.
You were supposed to take them out when you changed lenses?
So is the doctor who checked her eyes in the examination prior to scheduling the cataract surgery. How could something so obvious be missed?
Onset of Alzheimers, or overuse of ‘nerve pills’ just maybe.
Under their wonderful system she CHOOSE not to go for her eye exam.
Under our “wonderful best in the world” health system I’m taxed so others can get medical care for free to the point of being so damn broke I cant afford to get medical care for me at the ursurous rates Im charged.
At least their system is realatively equal. The tax payers actually get something where all we get is another bill.
Me too. Can’t wear them.
My brother-in-law is a doctor and was just out of medical school and working an ER in the twin cities in Minnesota and a woman came in complaining of pain in her back and lower abdomen and she hurt when she went to the bathroom. He asked her how long this had been going on? A month or two was her reply.
He noted an odor when he entered the room but that a patient is pungent was nothing new for him when working an ER, as he put it people are nasty. He had a nurse help the woman undress and get on the examination table and the odor was worse. He ordered blood work immediately and begin to physically exam her abdomen she reported pain in lower abdomen. He then had nurse set woman up for a pelvic exam and when she opened her legs the about gagged from smell.
He soldiered on and examined her and fished out a festering and rotting tampon! He said how long has this been in you? He said the woman looked puzzled for a second and then said I remember now, about three months ago, I wondered what happened to it. He prescribed gave a shot of antibiotics and and prescribed more orally. As he puts it people can be nasty and out right stupid!
