Both the U.S. president and the pope himself have weighed in on the case of Charlie Gard, the British 10-month-old whose life support is set to be removed after rulings by European courts.
Now some Kansas conservatives also are speaking up about the terminally ill baby, drawing comparisons to Simon’s Law, which went into effect Saturday in Kansas.
“We believe every one of us is created in the image of God and has dignity, and that includes Charlie even though he’s sick and small,” said Eric Teetsel, president of the Family Policy Alliance of Kansas. “We believe he has the right to live.”
Born with a rare genetic condition and resulting brain damage, Charlie is unable to move his arms or legs, eat or breathe on his own.
His parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, raised nearly $2 million to take him to the United States for an experimental treatment, but doctors objected.
A legal battle ensued, with three British courts ruling that Charlie should be taken off his life support.
The France-based European Court of Human Rights refused to hear the case on June 27, upholding the previous rulings that said further treatment would cause Charlie “significant harm,” the New York Times reported.
London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital was scheduled to take Charlie off of life support last Friday but postponed it.

I think that the Left make same argument about abortion. No coincidence here.
My Dad recently passed away in February. He had a subdural hematoma after a fall. I have three brothers and six sisters. Most of us showed up at the hospital and were there around the clock. Fortunately, the staff was good and accommodating to our crowd, but the more family and friends who show up to help the less they can do if they have a mind to.
Maybe they are collectively embarrassed because they have not been able to heal him and the best thing is to just let him die. Maybe they don't have good diagnosticians at the hospital and are just stumped. Maybe there is a transplant doctor on the staff who is pushing for a liver.
The hospitals do have advisory boards staffed with ethics "experts" who actively push for euthanasia.
A while back there was the case of the teenager who came down with and unknown disease and went into a coma and was in the coma for nearly a decade. He had some sort of brain infection. As the body was healing itself and he became aware of his surroundings, he still could not move or speak. When he finally woke up he told his mother of all the conversations he had heard, including the one where she yelled into his face : "Why don't you just die?"
The brain is the most mysterious organ we have. An ethics board trained in euthanasia is not the best last word on the subject. It sounds like this little Alfie has a brain infection and that the doctors do not know what they are dealing with. They said as much when they have been unable to explain to the parents what is wrong with their son.
Mr. Teetsel believes that every one of us has dignity. I believe that every one of us also has a soul. Every one of us has a God-given soul, and our souls are all equal before the Lord, regardless of our different talents.
This little baby has a soul.
You know he’s white without looking at the pics. If he was black they’d be DEMANDING the he be taken for this treatment, and at U.S. government expense.
Every one of us is a soul and we have a body - and am in complete agreement; in the eyes of God and those with spiritual vision, every soul is worthy and equal.
Of course one treats different people different according to how they behave and so on. But the actual “me” inside - belongs to God, every one of us.

It won’t surprise me if President Trump does fly the doctors over to London, just because of who he is. God’s blessings on you Mr. President.

Just think, this is what hillary and her ilk wanted to finish shoving down America’s throat. I thank the LORD above, that President Trump defeated her.

And even IF it were true, since when do we kill people with disabilities.
Also, I believe the brain can heal, judging by a friend of my family, a 95-year old woman who had great improvement a couple of years after surgery. I love visiting her, and her QUICK WIT.
I neglected to say the 95-year old friend of our family had brain surgery, and for a couple of years was not quite herself. But now she is quick witted and has the best sense of humor.
