DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. —
A mother has been arrested after a severely malnourished boy was found in a filthy Daytona Beach apartment eating pieces of old cereal off dirty carpet, police said.
The boy was discovered by the Department of Children and Families during an investigation into child neglect.
The boy, 5, was severely underweight and unable to speak, walk or stand, Daytona Beach police said. The boy was 24.9 pounds when he was found, police said.

Is there any hope for this child? Can he ever learn to talk, stand or walk? His mother has essentially murdered him and should answer for that rather than some abuse charge that would likely allow her to walk soon. Anyone in her family that knew about this and did nothing should be charged. They can’t be remotely human.

She SHOULD be charged with attempted first degree murder. She undoubtedly has already murdered the defenseless little tyke's brain.
Then she should be transferred to the Florida state execution chamber north of Ocala for waste disposal purposes.

My children all weighed more than that by a year old. My 17 year old is 6’1” and 240 lbs. I couldn’t imagine not feeding my children or having an abundance of good healthy food for them to snack on at their leisure. This creature should be shot.
Poor little guy. My precious grandson is 5 and well-fed. I pray that this equally precious boy recovers and is loved.
We adopted a boy almost 5 from a Russian orphanage. He weighed about 25 pounds and wore size 2T clothing

Today he is a 5’’ 9” teen who is loving life -but he still weighs shy of 110
