FORT WALTON BEACH, -- A 28-year-old congressional aide who died last month in her Panhandle office lost consciousness because of an abnormal heart rhythm and fell, hitting her head on the desk.
Although the immediate cause of Lori Klausutis' death was the head injury, the abnormal heart rhythm may have proven fatal in itself, the medical examiner who performed the autopsy said Monday.
Klausutis didn't know she had the heart condition that caused the abnormality, Dr. Michael Berkland said.
The body of the Niceville woman was found July 20 in the Fort Walton Beach office of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough.
She was a constituent services coordinator for Scarborough, joining his office staff in May 1999.
Scarborough, a Pensacola Republican first elected in 1994, is leaving office in September.
Berkland said Monday that tests revealed that Klausutis had a previously undiagnosed heart condition known to cause abnormal heart rhythms.
''The head injury which represents the immediate cause of death was clearly as a result of an unprotected fall in a person who had lost consciousness or was losing consciousness from a probable cardiac arrhythmia,'' Berkland said in a news release.

If she was consciousness, seems she would sit down first. Also, what was she doing there late night by herself? Red flags all around Joe’s story. Add that he was just going through a divorce/marriage, and it becomes even more suspect.

Yes, Trump has effectively brought this Joe story back into the spotlight. Many people didn’t know about this, but now they are learning about crazy Joe. Haha!
When I was 28 I avoided doctors unless I was ill enough to be incapacitated. So I would not have known about such a condition. Even if it had been FREE to visit the doctor I would not have gone anyway.
Her being involved with Scarborough may have had nothing to do with her death. Or maybe...
Not clear if this blames Obamacare, the attempted repeal of same, or Scarborough.
