Justice Department Dropping “Redskins” Fight: Trump Administration Putting An End To “PC” America
As originally reported by the AP, the Supreme Court’s decision in Matal v. Tam was found in favor of the Asian-American band “the Slants”. The case of Matal v. Tam and the ongoing battle against the “RedSkins” team name were closely tied. The Redskins lawsuit was pending as “the Slants” lawsuit continued; had this case favored in the opposite direction, it would have leveled a major blow to free speech in America.
This was never just about the name of a band, or the name of a football team. This was about a tipping point in American culture that we might have never been able to recover from. Had the courts decided otherwise, it would have set a terrifying precedent whereby select groups of people would be able to regulate our speech, and the expression of everyone from athletes to artists. The left argued that one person’s expression was another’s “oppression” – that false argument was shut down today.

In the Thursday letter, the Justice Department argues that the Matal V. Tam decision means that the court would decide in favor of the Washington Redskins if the case went before the justices.
Last week, Redskins owner Dan Snyder drew the same conclusion, and said he was “thrilled” by the court’s decision in the copyright case His lawyer, Lisa Blatt, issued a statement saying that the court’s decision resolved the dispute over the NFL team’s name.
Snyder and his wife have a close relationship with President Trump and his administration. In January, Snyder attended an exclusive inauguration celebration with Trump’s Cabinet members, and Snyder’s wife donated to Trump’s campaign in 2015.
Weeks after Snyder’s wife made the donation, Trump spoke out about the team name controversy, suggesting it should remain the Redskins.
“I know Indians that are extremely proud of that name,” Trump said in October of 2015.
“Honestly, I don’t think they should change the name, unless the owner wanted to.”
In 2014, the the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office canceled the “Redskins” trademark, saying the team name and logo were disparaging to Native Americans.
It is exhausting to work against the insanity of the politically correct.
The lefty rag THE HILL tries to send the message that the crooked and evil Redskins owner worked evilly with the crooked and evil Donald Trump to accomplish this.

On October 2, 2014 Micheal Medved said on his radio show that in “five years there was no chance” the team wood be playing under that name. In about 2 1/2 years I’m going to email him on his prediction.

Here is something to do to show your support for President Trump.
When I go into a store, market, gas station, restaurant etc.
I ask “Do you give a discount for seniors.”
Response is usually No, some say yes.
Then I ask,
DO YOU GIVE A DISCOUNT IF I VOTED FOR TRUMP?
Then watch the expression on their face.
Most will crack up and laugh, some stare or others will have a blank look.
One clerk told me jokingly.. “I’ll charge you more.”
Political correctness is evil and un-American and horrible and monstrous. Can’t wait ‘til it is dead and buried and extinct.
Why was this ever an issue?
Because the left uses the politically coirrect to DESTROY.

There is a small division III college in the Midwest conference who’s mascot was named for an Indiana tribe tha once occupied the area. I thought it was a nice tribute. Anyway, the PC crowd forced them to change the name and now....it’s been there years.....I don’t even remember the name of the tribe anymore. How does this name change show respect and hono to native Americans if people like me no longer remember the tribes name? Seriously......the liberals are loons on this issue. Mascot names come about for various reasons...for funny reasons, for seriouss reasons, and sometimes simply to show honor and respect. Again, liberals are wound so tight their brains are getting squeezed.
I wonder if the University of North Dakota Sioux, will now be able to change their name back to the University of North Dakota Sioux?
I don’t recall anyone being offended by the team name when the Redskins won the Superbowl back in ‘92...
