It is hard to imagine that one of those fine firearms would fall into the hands of such a complete idiot.

About ten years ago, the style books must have changed. Reporters used to write that “a man was killed by a falling safe,” or, “a man was killed when a safe fell on him...”
Now, they write, “A man was killed after a safe fell on him...” They seem to want to avoid asserting any causality.
A man died after his head was cut off...
Now, even “being killed” no longer qualifies as a cause of death.

Perez also told authorities Ruiz showed her a different book that he had shot, and the bulled did not go all the way through.
The incident was captured on two cameras. Police said the firearm used matched the .50 caliber Desert Eagle located on the scene.”
Another news outlet is reporting that the gun was a Desert Eagle.

Agreed, this doesn’t merit a full Darwin Award. However, as you probably know, sometimes Mr. Darwin also offers instant IQ checks in real time...some people fail. Pedro failed.
Easy mistake to make. The .50 caliber Desert Eagle doesn’t have a thumbhole stock or folding/telescoping stock, a grenade launcher, a threaded barrel, or even a bayonet lug. It’s not an assault weapon - how could it hurt anyone?
I would imagine sales of the Desert Eagle will now spike, now that people know it will kill you even thru a book............
