Blue Apron slashes its IPO range

The company now estimates it will price its IPO at $10 to $11 a share, down from the $15 to $17 a share it initially expected.

The new pricing range implies a valuation of up to $2.08 billion, compared with $3.2 billion earlier.

Last week, the company submitted a filing that kicked off the process to go public on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "APRN." Blue Apron had said it hoped to raise $100 million with its IPO.

The company is now in the final stages of preparing to go public in an already competitive meal-kit landscape.

Amazon, which is preparing to buy Whole Foods in a $13.7 billion deal, has tested food delivery, through its AmazonFresh offering, and meal kits, which deliver ingredients and recipes to Prime subscribers.

New York-based Blue Apron, though, still holds the title of being the largest U.S. meal-kit delivery service.

My millennial son and his girlfriend and their friends all love to shop and cook. My son last night baked chicken with spices, roasted veggies and cooked up rice enough to eat supper and fill four pyrex covered three cup glass storage containers so he could refrigerate them and take them to work, each for each day.

He and his friends get up every morning and make oatmeal, real oatmeal, eggs and coffee each morning.

As a matter of fact, while he was cooking last night he also sliced and baked up some apples with spices to put in the fridge and spoon on his morning oatmeal.

He fires up the grill in the evenings a few nights a week to sear and bbq a meat. His friends all do this too.

They follow cooking videos on their devices, and the all really enjoy their cooking time. It seems to relax them. Sometimes I find three or four of them in the kitchen cooking.

A pot of sauce with meat made the right way costs around $12 and three hours

____________

True and mine’s delicious.

But I do agree, that this way of eating boxed delivered foods is on par with cooking dried pasta and adding canned sauces.
