The canceled ABC comedy starring Tim Allen will not be revived at the Viacom-owned cable network which already airs the show in syndicated repeats. Last Man Standing will not rise again.
Talks between CMT and producers 20th Century Fox Television have broken down and the former ABC comedy starring Tim Allen will not be revived at the Viacom-owned cable network. It's unclear if another potential home for the series will emerge. CMT and 20th TV declined comment.

Too politically-incorrect.
Which means it was often fun to watch.
More Hollywierd Trump hating.
Why can’t Fox just produce LMS on their own network? I’m sure the fans would follow.
That’s the best sitcom around. Funny, seriously funny. BTW the women in his house backed Hillary.......gave him some hysterically funny lines

But it irritated me that the canuk SIL would make patently false statements and Mike would let them stand. Things like “oh, 8 years of progressively improving economy are bad” or “you rich people don’t know what hard work is.”
As in life, if you let lie stand, it is deemed as truth.
I do love the show, though, and am watching it now.
what do you want to bet that fox never meant to save the show. that negotiations were pourposly sabotaged by librals at CMT and at FOX.
No. It’s the same reason abc cancelled. It is expensive!!!!! No reason to take on a show that was low rated. Yes it was.
I’ve never bothered much with tv shows other than the news. When LMS was cancelled, I thought I’d tune it in to see what it was like. It’s got some funny lines. Perhaps the audience has increased since it was cancelled - I can’t be the only one who tuned it in at that time.

“The cancellation came as a shock for many fans considering the show’s high ratings. Deadline reports the sitcom was the network’s second-highest comedy this season and averaged 8.1 million viewers, just behind “Modern Family,” which averaged 8.7 million viewers this season and was recently renewed for two more seasons. It was also ABC’s third highest watched scripted series behind “Greys Anatomy” and “Modern Family.”
I can’t say as I had heard about it until the brouhaha about it being cancelled arose. I learned about it on some FR threads. I’m close to the end of Season 2 now.
Not as good as Home Improvement, but pretty good. I’m amazed at how risqué the show is compared to HI. What a difference 20 years makes.
A freeper recently posted it was now on Hallmark. Been watching it ever since. (Taken a break from politics)
The kicker is that 1 character is conservative and 4 of the other 5s are sorta lib. 1 is a total lib, and an idiot.
I.E. they are now offended with anyone who disagree with them.
I’m so fed up with what 30% (now 40%?????) of American’s being so fricken stupid.
I’ve just watched a few of the shows. I don’t generally find ANYTHING funny these days, so the odd cute joke is a pleasant surprise.
Yes, the behaviour of two of the daughters is, well, not something a true conservative, praying father would be joking about, but it’s just a tv show.
Actually, the only sitcom I’ve watched and actually laughed at is Big Bang Theory. I find it quite amusing and the characters are pretty cute. I do, however, not care for the sexual component of it and at times feel a little unsettled watching. I really wish they could leave all that out, as it isn’t a large part of the show.
It was the top 3 program for them.
Tim does command a huge salary. That was always an issue at ABC.
And the grandfather runs a legal pot store. Favorite line by Tim Allen’s character: “I’ve got legal weed in my gun safe. Dammit, I am a libertarian”.
It’s interesting play between the three daughters with the young one being a solid conservative. I have to laugh at the ditz Mandy — they sure wrote some amazing lines for her and I can’t believe they get away with it. Maybe because she isn’t blonde.
In the episode I watched last night, the eldest daughter bought Mom (Vanessa) a gift certificate to Toy World so she could buy a present for her grandson. She off handedly said “I’ve always wanted to sneak in there” before she realized it was for a REAL toy store for the kid. I have to admit, it made me laugh...and Nancy Travis is so good at deadpan.
I haven’t watched Big Bang Theory — heard a lot about it. Thanks for the tip.
I’ve been watching The Americans and that is one downright depressing show. I have to watch two short episodes of LMS as an antidote to one episode of The Americans!
You are absolutely right. It always is a business decision. It was a low rated show. Period.
It probably didn't help that ABC stuck it on Friday night, when viewership is lower anyhow. The only reason I got to see it with any regularity was thanks to my handy dandy DVR unit.
Oh, well. They did have a 6 season run. Not too bad considering that some shows are lucky to get past the first 5 months!
I knew not to get my hopes up until there was a deal. The show has been running for years, so the actors expect to get paid a decent amount, but it isn’t a network show anymore.
They’d likely have to write people out, or have them appear in only half the episodes
