I used to use his line when I would call someone and get their answering machine.
“My name is Jose Jimenez and my number is 2”
“My Nay Jose Jimenez”
I knew his name sounded familiar..Angelo, Sophia’s brother from The Golden Girls..RIP
Loved the rerun of his bit in “The Right Stuff”.
My dad would start cracking up before Dana even said a word.
Bill Dana the astronaut?
SERIOUSLY? I thought he died in the 1980’s!
He certainly could not make it with that routine now.
Wow, I remember this as a kid. You can’t do his bit now, of course. That would be uncouth. Making fun of decapitating the president, on the other hand...
Very accurate, there! We always added... My nay.. Jose Fuentes Jimenez.
Many laughs with Dana! RIP.
People of the United States of America:
Please don’t let them do this to me!!

Funny stuff. Wouldn’t pass the PC police today.
I’m not from Hapan!
You mean Japan?
Yes - Hapan.
His bit was so big on the Ed Sullivan show about the time I was in 5th or 6th grade it became an obsession with me and my demented friends...annoyed our parents and teachers to death with it! One of them got kicked out of Sunday School for a day by doing his Jose Jiminez inpersonation while reading some Bible verse out loud. We thought he was a comic genius!
Thanks Bill Dana for many laughs and RIP sir.
