Bullfighter Ivan Fandiño was gored to death Saturday afternoon by a bull of the stockbreeding ranch of Baltasar Iban in the French city of Aire Sur LAdour, the communications department of the Basque matador told EFE.
Fandiño, 36, was feinting the bull with his cape when he tripped, and as he fell defenseless to the ground, the animal gored him in the side.
He was taken immediately to the infirmary, and from there to a hospital in Mont de Marsa, where nothing could be done to save his life.
Spains king and queen expressed their sorrow for the death of bullfighter, whom they called a great figure of bullfighting.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia communicated their condolences in a message on Twitter from the royal household: Our most deeply felt tribute and our remembrance of Ivan Fandiño, a great figure of bullfighting."

Gosh, I hope this doesn't lead to an anti-bull backlash. Bulls are a peaceful breed of animal and this should, in now way, cause anybody think of bulls as otherwise. To do so would be a bigger tragedy than the death of the bullfighter. This was clearly the act of a lone-wolf, self-radicalized bull with no clear ideological underpinnings.
You've been warned, bullophobes. No anti-bull sentiment will be tolerated.

Bullfighting is grotesque and inhumane. (This from a carnivore and occasional hunter.)

Reminds me of that joke about the American visiting a restaurant in Spain and seeing another diner having bull’s testicles for dinner.

I have no sympathy for him. Since they don’t rush the bull to the animal hospital when he is stabbed.
The bull is doing what he needs to do according to his nature. He has a right to self-protection.
Torture a bull, you get gored. Bull 1, human 0.

This Carnivore and Huntress agrees!
I watched one on TV with my Dad once and I just had to leave the room. It was painful to watch, and I’m no wimp.
I think the same kind of people that enjoy that type of entertainment also enjoy cockfighting, or the ancient rules of Aztec gaming when the losing Team Captain, ‘lost’ his head!

It’s not the breed, it is how it is raised.
