Surveillance video captured the moment when a homeowner fought off five would-be robbers with a machete.
Five South Florida men were arrested in connection to an armed robbery in Sarasota on Thursday.
Police responded to a call at 4:45 a.m. about a man with a shotgun showing up at a home. By the time police arrived, the homeowner had disarmed the suspect and was holding him until deputies arrived. The homeowner told police two other robbers escaped. The two suspects and two others were eventually found at a nearby gas station.
Suspect Alen Beltran-Vasquez is charged with two counts of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ronier Jauregi-Lorente and Angel Cabrera-Basulto are charged with two counts each of armed robbery. Jorge Valido-Leyva and Roberto Selcedo-Balanza are each charged with two counts of principal armed robbery.
All five men are being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bond and the investigation is ongoing.
Wow! The homeowner is lucky as hell the shotgun holder did not fire his weapon.
No kidding. If I’m holding a shotgun and someone comes after me with a machete, I’d think my trigger finger would develop a mean itch.
Considering the homeowner had a machete, the author should have used a different verb so as to avoid confusion...
Look at the names of the robbers. But I’m sure they’re just descendants of Ponce de Leon.
There can be only ONE!
That is exactly what I was thinking.
Yes, disarming could mean many things in this case.
Apparently the only weapon that went off was the sphincter of the guy holding the shotgun. Somebody moving quick in your direction with a raised machete could have that effect.
Never bring a shotgun to a machete fight.
PARENTS OF ROBBERS SHOULD BE JAILED for not terminating their evil offspring on their own.
