What is the prevailing sentiment on the effect of the shooting of Congressman Scalise on the Tuesday Special Election in Georgia?
1. No Effect
2. Sympathy vote for Handel and backlash against Democrat Ossoff.
3. Helps people to turn to the Republican candidate out of disgust for the Democrats
4. Help for Democrat Ossoff. [I personally find this very unlikely, but I could be wrong...]
This is not meant to be scientific, just what the sentiments of Freepers might be.
Certainly, the dirty trick of sending a package with WHITE SUBSTANCE inside probably is making this a dirty race as well as instances at the polling places.
And a question: Is the AJC taking sides in this race and what side other local media might be taking.
I used to live in Atlanta (Sandy Springs/Dunwoody), so I am curious about this race.
Finally, after the Scalise shooting, a liberal overnight broadcaster for ABC commented how with the Democrats winning the baseball game, the Democrats FINALLY won something. I was kind of surprised by that.
I hope some of the vicious nonsense will start to end.
President Donald Trump is playing MAJOR LEAGUE HARDBALL to help make America great again, and I am definitely on his bandwagon. Certainly, his team is charged with errors at times.
But the WITCH HUNTS need to end.
The envelopes with the white powder might have an effect. Handel supporters were clearly targeted. This might energize them to get out and vote.
Both the white powder and the shooting help to nationalize the election. Since this district has voted republican for a long time, that (probably) helps Handel and hurts the socialist. Being reminded of the violence we can expect if socialists rise again cannot be a good thing for a leftist in Georgia.
Republicans/Democrats at this point what the hell is the difference.
It has been held by a Republican for nearly 40 years. I think we got this.
No effect because the GOP allowed the democrats who are now trying to murder them, to be viewed as unifying heroes. It’s possible the base will respond, but could it be any more evident that the democrats hand us flaming issues and the GOP races to piss on the fire?
Little to no effect regarding the vote ... death is becoming more commonplace being seen constantly via television. People are being desensitized. Could be a piece of the grander plan or the big picture. God knows. I do not have a clue.
Just wondering, how did Russia allow the shooting? I mean we know that any issue that could help republicans is illegitimate.
And certainly, the Bernie Sander's supporter Reality Winner will not be voting for liberals anytime soon.
If the media and democrats can turn the shooter into a hero, they will. I really think we don’t understand they will do to republicans and America, whatever they can get away with.
I am very nervous about this GA showdown.
I hope that’s all we have to worry about, The Dem’s and Republicans are pounding us into the ground.
That said, the deep state issue includes the Republicans who have done absolutely nothing but help the left smear Trump and are cowardly to speak up.

Just because she's locked up doesn't mean she won't vote early and often. She's a democrat, remember.
As for the Georgia vote, I thing the powder and the shooting will energize the GOP voters. As someone else pointed out, if the left is put back in power, all hell with break out.
If not, they will lose.
If Georgia voters perceive the socialist democratic agenda as being associated with anarchy, lawlessness and violence, then the shooting will definitely help the republican.
It seems to me that Georgia voters would find that the shooting does heighten the perception that the dems/socialists/antifa/occupy-wall-street types are violent.

Correct. Based on Congress’s behavior so far the GOP position on key issues of concern to conservatives is:
1). Healthcare: Obamacare in place or Ryancare. No market reforms.
2). Immigration. No funding of a wall. Keep the doors wide open for refugees.
3). Taxes. No meaningful reform and simplification. Keep the tax code complicated with thousands of pages of special provisions and loopholes.
4) Foreign affairs. Keep US troops spread around the world and continue meddling in the affairs of other nations.
5). Budget. Continue deficit spending. No cuts to the billions of dollars going to Democrat “non-profit” social activist organizations and liberal academic institutions. No meaningful cuts to the bloated bureaucracy. No termination of useless departments or failed programs.
6). Fiscal policy. Keep printing money to fund the ever increasing deficit.
7). Regulatory relief for large corporations.
8). Special favors for the donor class. That’s their job!
The GOP House has been fully funding the Democrat agenda and Democrat allied organizations since 2011. They didn’t stop with the election of a GOP Senate and President.
My understanding is much of the vote has already happened. Early voting permitted in Georgia.
Democrats have reached the point of being feral no cure only control of them they are a high risk of danger to freedom and safety to the public.
All with the help of the media and they are proud of their work sickness runs deep.
I suspect no effect. But I also suspect the polls are off to some degree.
You hit the issue of this election right on the nose!!! A perfect, correct, overview!!! This special election is not about Democrat, Jon “Pajama Boy” Ossoff vs. Republican, Karen Handel for the congressional seat of the Georgia, 6th CD. It is about the future of the current “traitor , turncoat” Democrat Party.
Do the voters in this district want to vote for the lock step trio of “the now dead, would be Democrat murderer, James Hodginson, Obama/Clinton/Sanders, Democrat pretty boy man servant, Jon “Pajama Boy” Ossoff & Kathy “The “Trump” Beheading Democrat nutcase”, Griffin!!! Or, would they cast their votes for Republican, Karen Handel who supports our POTUS, Donald J. Trump and the ongoing American Republic.
Folks....face the facts....the Democrat Party is dying on the vine from its very own self-inflicted wounds. A massive defeat for and of Jon Ossoff would be a fatal death blow to the entire Democrat Party. Believe me, Ossoff matters not one iota. What is at stake is much more important.
You good common sense voters, have a golden opportunity to save your American Republic and politically destroy the “Obama/Clinton scum & vermin that work to take the American nation down!!! Your choice folks. Wake up and vote for Karen Handel, For, any vote cast for Jon Ossoff is a vote cast to destroy the American Republic and its future for your children and families!!! Get out & vote for Karen Handel next Tuesday, June 20th, 2017!!!
