The Queens woman who was offered a steak dinner after staff said her $43 million win at a slot machine was the result of a glitch is suing the casino for the entire jackpot.
Katrina Bookman in August posed for a selfie at New Yorks Resorts World Casino in front of the Sphinx Slot Machine, its screen promising her a grand prize of $42,949,672.76. When she attempted to collect her cash, however, casino employees told her she hadnt actually won and offered her a complimentary steak dinner and $2.25 the prize they claim her slot machine actually should have delivered.

Smart alec.....not me...I got the story third hand.
For the casino to have a case, they would have to show how they made good when another person did not win because of a malfunction. A malfunction can not always benefit the casino.
Then they should list all the possible malfunctions and give examples of each and a listing of the probabilities of eadh malfunction occurring.
I have built for a number of Casinos over the years. On one of the first I made the mistake of using the word "gambling". One of the Casino executives stopped me and said, 'Burke, we don't call it gambling, we call it Gaming. Its not a gamble the way we do it.'
That prize she won is the maximum value of an unsigned 32 bit value. Basically, some 32 bit location was set to 0xFFFFFFFF or 11111111111111111111111111111111 . It’s a bug.
My bet is that the team of programmers were leftovers from the pool of Obamacare developers and were tasked with developing the payout routine in 3 years for 420M dollars.
Should mention that you need to remove the decimal point. After you remove the decimal point, the number is 2 to the 32 power -1.
Hate to keep posting (I hate typing on my phone) ...
I’ll bet she had very little credits left on the slot, cashed out, and the cashout routine managed to run into a bug.
I hate casinos and gambling, but I’m pretty sure they’re in the clear here and the woman isn’t telling the whole truth (makes me racist I suppose)
This happened somewhere else a few years ago. I don’t know how it was resolved. The casino’s argument of “malfunction” does make any sense, nor does a max payout in fine print. It’s supposed to be about having real good mathematicians setting payouts based on probabilities. Malfunction should be factored in. If they don’t want payouts to go above a certain amount, there shouldn’t be columns for larger numbers.
We all KNOW what happened here: The Russians hacked the machine.
You just can’t buy bad publicity, you earn it!
Who wants to gamble somewhere, and if, you win, they don’t payout.
in Idaho, an indian casino was sued by and elderly lady who tripped while at their casino and hurting herself pretty bad....she sued...it was basically just thrown out by the indian council and that was that...
apparently, they can not be sued...another insanity afforded them...
Maybe they'll make her an offer of two million (with a confidentiality clause to go with it) and then change their machines to feature a prize figure on the screen along with the warning...in big letters..."all prizes subject to verification".
The riverboat casinos in St. Louis - reportedly- used to ply the winner with free liquor and snacks and have a couple attractive folks cling to the until they are good and drunk... then send them on their almost ready to pass out, wobbly way, with the winnings or offer to drive them home. They always got robbed before they got home- can’t imagine why.
I gotcha. great line!
This is very common in the “Indian” - Native American casinos scattered across the country.
The winner is usually offered about 3% to 10% of the reward they actually won. If the player does not accept that, they have to sue in the Tribal Courts, since the event occurred on a “reservation” (sic) “native American land.” They have virtually no chance of success.
We had two clients who were SOL. Tribe finally settled for 30% to avoid the bad publicity. Had we moved to litigation, it would have meant 5-12 years, with, as I said, an Indian judge, from the tribe in question, deciding the issue!
The state is a partner with most casinos these days... courts will side with the casino

From all the Jackpot screens posted on youtube, you can see that is not how you are notified. But can they explain why this screen appeared?
You cannot enter a few dollars —no required symbols appear, no multiple free gam bonus happens — screen suddenly has that message.
No game in AC or Vegas will give you that much. Unless long running Progressive Jackpot. See my previous posts .
If the warning that malfunctions void all pays and plays, and the notice that the Maximum Payout was only $6,500 were both unmistakably displayed, then the stated Maximum Payout is likely all she will win in court - then he lawyers will take their fee out of that, which will likely leave her zero$.
