The Queens woman who was offered a steak dinner after staff said her $43 million win at a slot machine was the result of a glitch is suing the casino for the entire jackpot.
Katrina Bookman in August posed for a selfie at New Yorks Resorts World Casino in front of the Sphinx Slot Machine, its screen promising her a grand prize of $42,949,672.76. When she attempted to collect her cash, however, casino employees told her she hadnt actually won and offered her a complimentary steak dinner and $2.25 the prize they claim her slot machine actually should have delivered.

Ah-haaaaa...
It is impossible that they are NOT glitches. The computer is programmed to make sure you lose.
Reminds me of the old Twilight Zone episode. I saw this 57 years ago and have never forgotten it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fever_(The_Twilight_Zone)
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Gibbs, three days and two nights all expenses paid at a Las Vegas hotel, won by virtue of Mrs. Gibbs’s knack with a phrase. But unbeknownst to either Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs is the fact that there’s a prize in their package, neither expected nor bargained for. In just a moment, one of them will succumb to an illness worse than any virus can produce. A most inoperative, deadly life-shattering affliction known as the Fever.
And there was no progressive accumulating jackpot to justify the huge number If you read the rules on how to play it must be impossible to get such a winning.
Someone playing $600 per game on a slot machine in High Rollers slot area in Vegas could not win this much.
No idea if a video on youtube exists for her type of machine.
The casino will LOSE in front of a civil jury!
Not if she has a random fatal accident.
Now, if they had offered bacon...
She could have won one of the largest Slot Jackpot ever. Called 7 on Your Side

Machines highest payout was $6500. It couldn’t pay out $43 million
Jackpot: Here are some of the biggest slot payouts in Las Vegas history
The biggest (so far)
March 21, 2003: A 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles won $39.7 million after putting in $100 in the Megabucks slot machine at the Excalibur to win the largest jackpot in Las Vegas history. He beat odds at the time of one in 16.7 million. Total: $39,710,826.36

If I were the casino, I would offer her a million dollar settlement. If I were the lady, I would take it.
If I were on the jury she’d get $43million.
How do we know the machine didnt malfunction when it was taking money on losing spin after losing spin????
Call me a cynic, but I believe the laws of Nevada will favor the interests of the Casinos that bring in so much money to the local economy.
And Liz, just how is your back doing these days?
>>I wonder what the law is on gambling prizes which appears to have been won. Seems awfully convenient to say, the machine malfunction happened as you were playing, but heres a steak for your troubles.<<
I would think it is the same as any sweepstakes. If it says you won, you won.
But the law at issue might have some bends in it.
Agree it will be interesting.
Never mind. I see it wasn’t in Nevada, so my comment doesn’t even apply.
If the max payout on the machine is $6500 then clearly it’s a malfunction, but now it will cost them at least that much to defend against her claim. More importantly, if they can’t prove it was a malfunction based on a demonstrable error in the mechanics or software, it may cost the casino a lot more... in damages awarded and legal costs from inevitable appeals.
This is one of those instances where it’s cheaper to just pay instead of dealing with the lost time and expense of litigation. I feel bad for this woman, the casino should have done the right thing and paid her $6500, signed a release, and moved on.
Jackpot messages usually say “JACKPOT!” Call an attendant etc. for verification Bells ring etc. But what caused THAT number??
