Why pay for the Cultural Marxism pushed on TV? Digital over the air is growing, has better definition, sports, etc., Streaming is growing.

We cut the cord 3 years ago, put up an antenna outside, use a comp to stream and get well over 200 options to watch, movies and other stuff for free... why support the left in hollywood and NYC?

There are continued cracks in the wall of leftist cultural domination in the US.

I would hope that some day we see glenn Reynolds suggestion that the very generous tax break accorded the film industry be repealed and dry the money up that funds the cancer.

A diCaprio of the future might not be able to fly around in his jet while lecturing us peons on our need to conserve energy.

After that? Online university degrees. Again, contain and eliminate the funding of the cultural cancer.

Cable shoves the crap sandwiches of idiotic programming down our throats and makes us pay for it. Not only that, the CEO of Comcast and the employees of Comcast were Obama’s number one supporters, not to mention that the CEO of Comcast golfed with Obama at least twice weekly. I cancelled cable almost twelve years ago and never looked back.

It’s not just a dumping within the US. You can find the same trend in Europe...particularly in Germany. You go ask anyone under the age of 25....probably over 90-percent will tell you that they are streaming off the five or six services possible.

People that live in the country would love to have cable TV/data. It is all relative.

The big thing with cable/satellite when they expanded big time (late 70s/early 80s) was... no commercials!! Now they have so many commercials I forget what I was watching, get bored, and change the channel!

So, if they now have commercials to pay for their programming (like free over-the-air TV), why do they charge so much for their "service"?

I have a Roku for each TV. Big fan.

Recently I found Nvidia Shield Pro. Holy cow. Faster than the Roku. It has everything a Roku has PLUS the app KODI. Can't say enough about it.

Pay for all those sports channels? Some folks may, but I don’t.

Streaming.

It’s for those who want choices.

The irony is that for years we begged cable companies to allow or congress to compel a la cart offerings to no avail. I mean they didn’t even respond to our pleas as far as I remember.

Not always a real option. I live in a rather rural area. After the change-over from analog to digital, I could pick up 2 channels and one of which is an area religious channel. I live in an apartment, so an outside antenna is not feasible.

The cable company requires at least basic tv cable in order to get cable internet. I suspect that could be legally challenged, but would the result be worth the court battle? Cable provides the best internet for the price compared to the other available options -- satellite, mobile, DSL.

But, the annual price increases -- between $5 and $10 per month each year -- are upping the price enough to consider other alternatives.

The BIG cable companies have already made the transition from “cable TV” to broadband providers. I grew up working in the cable industry. The margin and maintenance of a broadband network can be high enough to overcome the crap associated with programming and dealing with programmers.

They should put the pipe in the house and connect it to your TV. The rest is up to you.

Half of your support staff could be cut and the average bill would not change all that much.

AND, look for Comcast or another broadband company to ultimately buy Netflix.

On Demand access to programming has been the dream of cable providers for years.

Two edged sword of course. Netflix has lots of gay crap on it, and very offensive content. But I generally believe in the idea that if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

I just received a new ROKU 4 yesterday. It can stream 4k. Amazon $69
All the shows I watched before on the older ROKU 3 look better, the photos are sharper, the thumbnails brighter and sharper.
