As a teacher I can tell you that uniforms are great. What is sad are the kids who come in on Monday w/ dirty, stained shirts & pants from Thursday & Friday. Some people may scoff, but we’ve had kids come w/ holes & ill fitting clothes. Lord knows what they would do without uniforms. You feel bad for the kids. It’s not their fault.

Also more & more parent(s) have NO idea about what is appropriate. We hear stories from the high school & some girls pretty much come dressed as pole dancers on no uniform days.

I have been to a few high school games for urban schools. The cheerleaders wear no underwear. It shows underneath their one pieces.

I think I’ve encountered some of those parents when I’ve gone to Jury Duty. They don’t even know how to dress themselves ;-)

I subbed this year for the first time after retiring from education quite a few years ago.(Sub crisis in the local district). I was appalled that parents would send their children (prek - high school)looking like street walkers. Then I saw some of the parents. . .then I saw some of the teachers. My mother would have had a fit if I even thought about dressing that way.
