You know, I think they played that Lux within the last few months. I remember the opening clearly.

No idea who holds the title now. I ate four last night. I like them on the pellet smoker, take them to 180f or so till they plump.

Adams Morgan is dangerous IMO. Some consider it chic, not me. And the homeless are aggressive. The city is made up of crazy libs as you know.

We didn’t hear the Lux, since we tuned out quickly from Murray’s shtuff.

I went to the Walmarket today and found Nathan’s hot dogs! Keith’s putting them on the Green Egg now. I’m thawing out some of Keith’s excellent chili he made a while back, and I grated some sharp cheddar. That and mustard and relish and chips, and we’re good to go tonight! :-)

Gina, how did those Nathan's turn out?

Vision, the reigning champ is still Joey Chestnut. He's only lost once since 2007. Last year he cleared seventy dogs on buns. I'd need my stomach pumped at about six. And Adams Morgan wasn't too terribly bad. Twenty five years ago. The food there was fantastic. I tried things I'd never heard of, and I was probably dating everyone but WASP ladies at the time. And we had this 'homeless' guy there. Tall, skinny black dude by the name of Jacques, or Francois, or some French sounding name. Guy was always dressed to the nines. Made his living by 'holding' parking spaces on Columbia Road for people on the weekend. We knew each other by name. If I was just staying overnight, I'd slip him a ten spot, then he'd wait until someone pulled out from the restaurant/nightclub district, and he'd literally jump into the spot and 'hold' it until I came back around the block. Guy was no scam artist, his word was as good as gold, to a fault. If I was going to live in sin for the whole weekend, I'd slip him a twenty. I bet he was making upwards of a grand for three days' work, which explained the fine threads that were out of my pay grade. The usual beat cops would come by and hassle him, but the second their tail lights disappeared, he was right back at it. It was a good arrangement at the time. There was never any trouble back in those days. Now, I don't even recognize my own country anymore. It went full-on, batshit crazy while I wasn't looking.

I'm going to bacon wrap some Nathans and put them on the pellet smoker this weekend.

I was in and around Adams Morgan in the mid nineties. What I remember was trying to park and a homeless guy getting in the way to “assist” me and seemingly want some type of payment for his services. Maybe it was Jacques. Also remember a friend got mugged or in a fight; later some shooting or such occurred and was in the news. Jerry Garcia's drawings went on display at the art gallery at the beginning of the strip and we went to check them out.

Mmmm. Bacon wrapped and smoked. Let me know how that turns out. I'm in the process of dismantling the old grill and gazebo, to put in a good charcoal grill with sidecar smoker box and a separate gas grill, but the money I have set aside is going to my birthday present - a nice, stout AR-15. I'll do the grillworks after that. If you can get them up there, try their crinkle cut fries and beer battered onion rings. Especially if you dare to deep fry them. Delicious. I could gorge, but my cholesterol count won't allow me to. LOL Their mustard isn't anything to write home about, though. I'm a mustard snob. I keep yellow, Dijon with Chardonnay, Dusseldorf, beer & brat, sweet and hot, and spicy brown deli mustard handy. Yeah, that sounds like you met Jacques. He was a hustler, for sure, but he always came through for me. Sounds like you and I were walking the same pavement around the same time. We may have crossed paths and didn't even know it.

Yep. Look in the frozen food section, 'natch. If you go to their website, you can locate their specific products by zip code.

Lord, I have too much time on my hands. LOL!

Guys, the Nathan’s hot dogs are much better than the Hebrew National ones. They were VERY GOOD on the grill! :-) Thanks for the recommend, Vision, and the back-up recommend, Viking!
