Endless internet lists examine the most accurate Hollywood battle depictions, ones that adhere to the actual battles they portray. The verdicts are unforgiving, measured with sympathy for filmmakers who bend the truth to tell a story. But what about when moviemakers can craft an entire battle from scratch?
Fictional battles created with realism, logic, and intelligence are hard to come by. The absurd military vehicles and small unit tactics of The Empire Strikes Back are even dumber to behold than the lack of armor on the Spartans of 300. Because of these accurate battles are such a rarity, they deserve a list all their own.

Marvin defeating the vogons with the point of view gun.
I would go with the Civil War composites portrayed in 1) Red Badge of Courage, and 2) The Patriot.

Have to disagree with you regarding Master and Commander. It is a movie that dedicated an immense amount of energy towards realism and authenticity. Peter Weir should have been given the Academy award for best director. The wardrobe and ship details were amazingly accurate. The plot, which was a script which wove together several of the books, was interesting and entertaining. The depictions of early 19th Century surgery, musket fire, cannon gunnery, and ship repair were unequalled in film, before or since.
I saw this event in person.
‘Dune’ was astoundingly dumb in this manner, as in most others.
Battle of Serenity Valley, however.....
I started to retract it when I saw it was fictional battles. Then I realized we were talking about wrestling so it was okay.
But the bench press of Andre was very impressive.
LOL
“Hollywood sucks... bunch of out-of-touch liberal elites.”
With the exception of Captain Dale Dye whose ‘Warriors, Inc’ consultancy has at least helped give Saving Private Ryan, The Pacific, Band of Brothers and Platoon a look of authenticity.
Sheridan’s army of light confronting President Clark.
The Cylons (original) taught the Stormtroopers how to shoot.
and probably how to fall down.
Season 6 Episode 9 of Game of Thrones should be on there for the giant alone.
The Cylons were totally cool. Best robot warriors ever.
The Battle of Rorke’s Drift from “Zulu”
King Kong vs the biplanes?
