In a stunner, Cloud Computing won the Preakness Stakes, spoiling Always Dreamings bid at a Triple Crown.
The 142nd Preakness was billed as a head-to-head battle between Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming and Classic Empire, who was looking for revenge after a rough ride two weeks ago at Churchill Downs. And for three-quarters of the race, thats exactly what it was, with Always Dreaming running in the lead, with Classic Empire on his hip the entire way.
But as they rounded the final turn and headed down the stretch, Always Dreaming began to fade, ceding the lead to Classic Empire, who was, it appeared, home free

Always Dreaming Cloud Computing??? I can hardly wait for the Belmont Stakes to complete the message;-)
Was just thinking they were awesome names.
No triple crown winner this year.
THAT was a horserace!
Someone is going to kill crowns jockey!
I had Classic Empire boxed with Conquest Mo Money. As usual I should have stayed away from the exacta and bet Empire across the board.
However, I hit the exacta in the 8th at Belmont. Also bet the number 2 horse to place and show. Pretty good day to have only placed bets in two races.
The caption on the picture below is not correct.
All we now need are 2 horses named “Fake News” and “Russian Hacking” to really get the party started.
“Was just thinking they were awesome names.”

Yeah, but I’m worried with “Cloud Computing” that we’re gonna be subjected to a leak of nude horse selfies!
:^)
Thanks for posting. Quite a race.
I had to watch the replay. Very exciting...even watching it four times. :)
off topic of the race, but in looking for news of the race, many articles popped up discussing the Preakness could move to another race track.
They mentioned how Pimlico is an old track, needs renovations, is geographically hemmed in, and is adjacent to some bad neighborhoods.
I recall this was discussed quite a bit at the time of the Freddie Gray incident, and at that time, some black community leaders lamented that the community there gets very little benefit from the Preakness. Since it’s in a bad area, people come right in, leave after the race, and don’t stick around the area; don’t contribute to the local businesses in the area.
Time will tell on that. Does it make sense to renovate an aging race track, on a smaller than ideal geographic footprint, in a bad neighborhood?
Cloud Computing came "out of nowhere...". Then, in the very next sentence, Cloud Computing was "third "for most of the race.
Does no one at Yahoo! read their own writing? /rhetorical
Does anyone have a link to a replay, please?
Hubby had classic empire to show , I had cloud to show , so we had a good day .
If you get a tickle, bet a nickel. If you get a hunch, bet a bunch.
Too bad. I was rooting for Always Dreaming.
.........no but Maryland politicians are so corrupt that the taxpayers will probably find themselves on the hook for renovations to Pimlico/a new Pimlico. It has fewer than ten race days a year and is in a very bad area.
There is already a horse named Fake News. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/others/president-trump-horse-fake-news-castrated-donald-racing-a7654741.html
